Megadeth Rust In Peace Book

Man, just saw that a Megadeth Biography dropped yesterday called "Rust in Peace". I'm excited to read this! According to an interview I just saw, all of the members chime in on what was going on so not just Dave's perspective.

Well kind of hard to Get Nick Menza's perspective but I guess 3 out of 4 ain't bad! I loved his drumming though, he's a huge part of that record as well. All the stars aligned for that one. Just an incredible body of work captured at the right time in music history.

No this one is Dave's but with comments from the other guys. Man, I didn't realize Marty is doing one too! My buddy went to high school with him in Hawaii. When I used to live there and would go to his guitar store, he showed me pics of Marty jamming outside during lunch with all of these other students standing around watching him play. Was badass!

Yep, I was a sophomore in high school and Marty jammed in the courtyard during lunch - it was just him, bass and drums....they had canned their singer just before; I stood about 10 feet away from him. Not sure how many schools they played at but it was at least a few.

I'm not sure Marty actually went to high school in Hawaii though...what high school did your buddy go to?

Dave seems to be getting some bad press lately. From Chuck Billy telling a story about Dave being a total asshole on a Judas Priest tour, to Marty badmouthing the camp.

I side with dave on the Marty thing. In order to return to the fold for the RIP reunion, Marty had some pretty gnarly demands. He wanted his whole managment team to be paid, he wanted more money than everyone else, he wanted to sell his own merch on the tour, as if anyone wants that, he wanted to fly first class to shows instead of a bus, etc.
Japan made him too big for his britches.

Basically he was saying he was asked to rejoin Megadeth for a Rust In Peace tour (?) and he declined because:

a.) He could make more money doing his Japan thing and
b.) It wasn't really a Megadeth tour, it would be a Dave Mustaine tour

I'm not sure Marty actually went to high school in Hawaii though...what high school did your buddy go to?

Yeah he did but not sure for how long. His dad was in the military so he went there when his dad got transferred. I'm not sure what high school he went to because I didn't grow up over there was just in the military there for nine years. For some reason I want to say "Roosevelt High School" but not sure where I'm getting that one from. Zachman is a mutual friend of my friend Carlos so he might remember.

I caught them on the Countdown tour and they were tight as f_ck. Marty was awesome.. never forgot some jerk chucking a plastic coke bottle at him and I think someone spit on him. They threatened to leave the stage but finished the show. Damn they were good (and patient)

I think it would almost be impossible to stay grounded in a world like that. I can't even imagine.

Basically most of these guys are rich kids. Dave is a hard ass. Doesn't mix well. Goes for a lot of bands.

Dave is like Ozzy with having a gift for finding great guitarists. He knows what type of riffs and solos fit a certain player. I was listening to Marty back in 87'-88' so for me seemed like a weird fit. Boy was I wrong. LOL
