Mercury Magnetics Transformer?

Would the Mercury Magnetics transformer be a huge benefit to the MOD 50????

My buddy put one in his Marshall DSL and LOVES the difference.
 
IMO, any amp that you can fit a Mercurty into (which is almost all amps) benefits hands down, BUT, you do have to understand it IS going to change the sound.
 
doubtful. The mod 50 uses very high quality heyboer trannys. Your friends Marshall benefitted from mm because there was garbage in it to begin with. Mm makes a great tranny but my soldano hot rod had mm and while it sounded good the mod 50 is much more responsive. The heyboers in the mod 50 are right up there with the deyoungs in my slo.
 
Sounds like heyboers, deyoungs and MMs are in the same league. Thanks! I feel better.
 
They're all really good. Differences would be subtle at best. Dave Friedman once said he felt our Heyboer 50 watt output transformer was the best sounding he's ever heard. Said it was better than the original stock one in his "Holy Grail" Plexi Mrashall head. Just one persons opinion. Let us know what you find if you try it.
