I received a request to do a clip of the Smashing Pumpkins' Cherub Rock and thought I would share. I wanted to use Rhy 2 channel. I had about 20 mins to learn and record this quick clip (I won't have time to play again until the end of next week). I'm not 100% happy with the recorded tone but think I'm on the right track. I used the bridge pickup but I'm thinking the neck might give a more rounded, fuzzy tone like on their album.

I'm not real familiar with the tune and I've never played their stuff before. I promise the mix will get better!

That sounded really good, especially for R2! No clue how the original album version sounds, but yours sounded great.

Thanks mang! The original has more of a fuzz type tone to it. I thought the looseness of R2 would be a great start for the tone. When I listen to my clip again it sounds too clean compared to the original. I guess you could say it is Smashing Pumpkins (as interpreted by the Mark IV).

Does anyone know what Billy Corgan used for their recording? I'd be pretty interested.
