Anyone check it out or care since you already have an amazing Egnater? I might have to check it out if I see one locally. ;)

I thought it sounded great at NAMM. However, all the Mark series experts say its garbage and the IV is better. YMMV.

It was coolbut not Eggie cool, and there were a half a dozen amps that I liked better but it was cool!!

I'd buy a Mesa Studio Pre...or a Mark IV 100 times before the MarkV. But...I'd rather have a MarkIV type module instead!!!! :)

I have a Mark IV, and it is a great amp. The COD does come close enough for me to not need it though. So it's a backup for the Egnater. I keep it because it's so versatile and cuts through a mix really well. Fairly compact, but the damn combo weighs more than my MOD 100 head, which weighs 65 pounds. Get the head if you want the IV, your back will thank you.

The V sounds great on the vids, but I just don't see the point. The IV's only weakness that I find is channel 1 & 2 share the mid and bass pots so you compromise there. But the channels are so different you can easily find a happy medium. One other small thing is the lead sound has a midrange honk that you can't dial out. But that's the signature sound.

I haven't had any amp gas since the M4. I've had some major MAS over the last 8 months but no amps have moved my GAS needle in quite some time.

IMO channels 1 and 2 on the V KILL channels 1 and 2 on the IV. The mark V is for sure a great amp, i've heard it sound absolutely incredible in the right hands, although i haven't been able to find the sweet spot on channel three. Channel 3 is the only reason i could see that would make the V inferior to the IV

That hasn't been my experience. I know many Mark guys who don't like the V. I didn't bond with it either. Still I'd like to try another one.

I agree about Channel 2 on the V. They got that right.

Yes Yes! :)

I like Mesa stuff, but I'm still surprised Mesa discontinued the IV. Geez, they had the Mark III out simultaneously with the Mark IV for many years before it was discontinued. Maybe the IV had such a long run they figured enough were out there already.

I'm also surprised they didn't reissue the IIC+. That's the best of the Mark series, IMO. I got one for $1100 back in 2000 from the Hollywood store. The prices now are insane.

i had one for a week

tried to like it.

finally gave up on it,

was smilling in less than 10 seconds back on the mod100 rig.
