For Sale: 1989 Mesa Mark III Blue Stripe DRG amp short-head with the ++ mod installed by Mike Bendinelli at the Mesa Factory HQ. Amp was born on March 1989, Serial # 254XX with the final quality check performed by Mike B. Amp was fully serviced with the ++ mod installed in March 2018 (as indicated on the back panel by Mike B.'s initials). Amp also had: Pentode/Triode mod (controlled by metal toggle switch, to switch between pentode/triode power tube operation), R2 volume mod, a new AC power cord, new fan, all electrolytic caps replaced, and an overall service performed at Mesa Factory HQ by Mike B. Also the head shell is a brand-new Mesa factory made Mark III head shell, covered in black taurus tolex. Not some 3rd party no-name head shell. The new Mesa head shell alone cost $500. The amp is in excellent ++ condition, super clean condition. It looks brand-new. Receipt from Mesa Factory HQ in Petaluma, CA included stating that Mike B. personally performed the ++ mod and all service work mentioned above. This is a fully-loaded MK III ++ DRG headed. Mike B. doesn't like to perform the Pentode/Triode power tube mod anymore, as it takes too long. I just sold another one of these Mesa MK III ++ heads, 4 months ago to another forum member, and he is very pleased with it.
Power tubes: 4 Tung-Sol 6L6GC STR
Preamp tubes: Chinese Ruby 12AX7-C5 HG++
All preamp and power tubes tested and matched by me on my Maxi-Matcher.
The amp sounds amazing and is ready to kill for another 20 years. I have 4 of these ++ MK3s, which is the only reason I am selling this one.
