This video shows the amps in the poll. Not my video.

I was thinking about a mod on my Rectifier. Interested in what experience and preferences everyone has ???

I'd say get the scary, because it is the instant do-it-yourself and reversible mod that can be used on many other amps also, so it's hard to go wrong with that.

The Hermansson sounds the most "refined" to my ears, crisp and tight with nothing getting lost in the low end. The Ground Zero sounds like a really PodXT dual rectifier, lots of high end fizz. It's bummer seeing a 2 Channel Recto getting modded and sounding worse than stock. The tough part about these comparisons is that every Rev F and Rev G and 3 Channel Dual Rec sounded different from each others respective version. Would be cool to hear a before and after mods too.

Yes and also they can be EQ'd and/or boosted to probably get quite close to one another. Even a bunch of stock revGs will likely all sound slightly different from each other.

Kinda sounds more like a boost comparison into a recto. Shame that all the recto mods Ive heard of just seem to be geared toward people afraid to use a boost pedal.

The best mod for a Recto (and any parallel Mesa) is just a Series loop with a boost out front. Shape that tone exactly how you want with an EQ and experiment with different cabs/speakers. The sound of a Recto without the bloated low mids is an absolute beast of annihilation.

I think they all sound great. Ksr my least favorite, but i would still rock it.

I would leave stock. But if i were modding ground zero

Certain amps should not be messed with. They are perfect already.

Jk..🤪

Need to have a listen to the video, but the Ground Zero mods have impressed me in all of the clips of them I’ve seen so far

Price wise-Mr scary. Kyle bull did a good video on this very subject I believe. I think it is amazing what these amp guys can do. I’m fine with changing tubes and biasing but it’s crazy that they can do and even understand these circuits to change things up.

From best capture to worst capture:

Rev F stock
Mr Scary
KSR
Ground Zero
H. Modded

Actual amps in person mic’d is a whole different story.
Same for me. Was quite surprised that I actually hated the Herm. But then these are captures too, so that adds another layer to the ?.

It sounded great but seemed to add a ton of noise. I’ve been on the fence on buying one to throw in my t-verb

If I had a Rev F, I would be leaving it stock and doing what I used to do when I ran Rectos: boost up front and eq in the loop.

My next favorite in that demo would be the Hermansson. Not very Recto like anymore, but some very serious clarity, tightness and articulation!

Agreed that's why I still have a stock Recto and Hermansson one. The other mods seem to filter or neuter the sound a bit, trying to fix the problem of tightening, while creating new issues (like less balls), while the Hermansson mod becomes it's own thing that's tighter and sharper in attack than almost anything else with some remnants of the recto still in there. The extreme hollowness doesn't always agree with me, but then my ears go to their unique high end aggression and glassy, sharp detail up top and it can be addictive that part of their sound also
