MHG vs EG5, TD vs Alembic F-2B

What's up everyone. Thinking about some module changes and need opinions...

The TD module has been on my want list for a while but I keep holding off b/c my Alembic pre already does what I want: glassy Fender clean and a Tube Screamer in front for dirty. Another plus, with the Alembic I don't have to sacrifice a module space. How does the TD sound compared to the Alembic and can it get a bigger range of tones?

I have the MHG and it has plenty of gain and saturation but even with the high control dimed the high end is still too rolled off for my tastes. As I understand it the EG5 has that high end, but does it have the same gain and saturation of the MHG? Also, is it possible to EQ the EG5 to sound like the MHG or are they totally different animals?

One last question (I promise)... How close can the SL2 get to the lower gain SL? In other words, would you need an SL if you had an SL2?

Thanks!
Gregg

Gregg,

Sounds like you definitely want EG5. Same amount of gain, saturation, clarity, definition as the MHG, but a high mid punch and more high end overall. If you really back off the treble and some mids of the EG5 you can get pretty close to MHG if you want to. I just find myself not wanting to when I hear the way EG5 rips through a mix! :D

Man me too. The other electric guitar in my band plays a Dual Rectifier and LOUD. The EG5 allows me to carve out a nice spot for me in the mix without playing the volume game with him. It's nice. Love this module.

The EG5 would be too bright and 80s for me. I like thick rich and dark.

Like my woman
  Hey richie, have you tried the EG/3,it fits that to a T.

Thats a good call. Richedie, I think you are better off with EG3/4 than SL2. EG3/4 is smoother, darker, woodier.

The EG5/mod50 is the best sound I've ever heard from ANY amp.

ridiculously good. I need an M4.
