I would like some info on the mic eliminator that is going to be in the new Egnator cab. Is it like the Randall? Did Bruce design both? Is it like the record out of the Renegade head? Where is it available for purchase without a cab?

My Egnater cab is not new, so it does not have one although I'd like to install one. My Randall cab has one so that is good enough. However, I can't get it working.

Bruce,

Can you answer this question? I'd like to give you the money, instead of another company.

I like the Renegade speaker simulator, but have a need for it with another amp also. I'd like to buy your circuit in an external package.

I got the Randall mic eliminator (which I understand Bruce designed) and installed it in my TM212 and it's great. Frankly I don't think anyone could tell the difference between it and a true mic'ed cab at a gig. I would assume it is the same or similar to what's in the Armageddon.

Bruce designed the mic eliminator for Randall. The new Egnater version is a similar design tonally, and will be on their cabinets come summertime.

If you want one now, call up Randall, and get one separately, and add it to your cabinet. It's not something that Bruce or Randall sells in a "external package." It's meant to be put in a cabinet as it's back plate. So buy one for the cab you use the most.

Which version of the Randall mic eliminator do you have? 2x12 or 4x12?

How do you buy a mic eliminator w/o buying a cab ?

I just called them and they gave me pricing.

$79 for the 2x12
$149 for the 4x12

I still need more info though.

I like the idea of the two xlr outs of the Randall. Eric, can you confirm the config of the 2x12 version? A picture of the 2x12 version would be great.

On the Randall unit, are the two xlr outputs active all the time? Stereo and mono switch positions?

I've only had the 4x12 version of the Randall Mic Eliminator, so I can only comment on it. I have use it in my Egnater TM212's. It has a voicing switch for each side to be dark, normal, or bright. It also has a mono / stereo switch, and can run your cab in mono at either 4 ohm or 16 ohm. I used 8 Ohm speakers in my 2x12 ...and 16 ohm in my 4x12 so I could use the same speaker ohm ratings and the same jack plates.

On the "are both xlr outputs active all the time" question...that's an answer I don't know as I always used mine in stereo...

Thanks for the info, for now, I think the 4x12 version of the Randall mic eliminator will do the trick.

Here is some preliminary data comparing the Renegade mic level speaker simulated output and the Hotplate dummy load line out.
With the Renegade, using the line out of a Hotplate with no EQ the sound is very shrill. The spectrum analysis confirms this fact.
The built in simulated out of the Renegade sounds pretty good.

I will use this same spectrum analysis on the Randall simulator when I get it.
