MIDI control question

I have a pretty simple question for MIDI-knowledgeable folk out there:

Say I buy a VH4 or Herbert, and a Columbus footswitch as well.

Would I be able to program the Columbus so that with the push of ONE button, the amp would switch channels AND engage the serial effects loop simultaneously?

I want to be able to switch from full-on-gain to affected cleans without having to tap-dance. However, I also don't want to run my effects solely through the Channel 1 effects loop, as I use all of the effects in both clean and "dirty" situations. I'd like to have the freedom to employ the loop for any channel at any time, but to also be able to simultaneously shift tones and turn the loop on/off.

Thanks for helping my MIDI n00bhood. I've years of MIDI experience with synths and programming, but never in amp applications. It makes sense that a single MIDI command should be able to engage several actions simultaneously, but maybe I'm wrong?

Check the VH4's or Herbert's pdf to see what functions are MIDI related. You can do a lot of things.
You can control whether channel inserts are on and off, the effects send and a mute function.

Herbert has three loops. A "permanent" serial and parallel and a midi switchable serial loop. Of course you can set up everything in the way that say your compressor & chorus just works with the clean sound. You can either use the switchable loop for that or simply set your fx-unit to bypass then. Everything is possible.

For me the best part is that the switchable serial allows you to use other amps or preamps and slave them thru Herbert. A full amp needs a load and a line-out though.
