Midi controller not getting power

My relatively new (5 months old) Midi Moose is no longer working. It has always been plugged into my Herbert and is safely in my home studio (never been moved). Is there any way to verify if the midi moose is faulty or if it is the midi output on the Herbert. I do not have another amp with midi to verify the controller function. Any feedback is welcome (especially Peter ;) ).
 
- use a voltmeter (multimeter) to check out if the herbert's midi-in is sending out the power
- use an external power supply for your midi moose in another experiment to check out if the moose is broken.
 
Voltage should be 12 volt DC between pin 1 and pin 3
