Has anyone tried the Tech 21 Midi Moose footswitch with the VH4? How does it work (5 pin cable? Phantom power?)? It is the most appealing solution to me since I really only need it to control the amp and I don't want to spring for the Columbus or a Ground Control Pro.

I'm also thinking of pulling the winged c el34's and putting in some tad 6L6GC's. I know the cleans will be better but what can I expect on channel 3 and 4?

Thanks in advance. Love the forum.

Some forumites have the Moose.
Just type Midi Moose and search this forum, you'll find "Slate" and "Hey_Bert_ . .." who are using it WITH phantom power thru a normal 5PIN cable. Just make sure the cable has 5 wires inside. Sounds stupid, but some cable (even if the jacks have 5 PINS) don't have 5 wires inside . . .

One has to really watch it buying Midi cables to save hours of frustration! The only ones out of the US I found that are wired out of the box for phantom power are from Conquest Cable. Monsters and all won't power anything without modifying them. Then I get this stuff from Bob Bradshaw (Custom Audio 4x4 and RS10) and they are still using 7 pin! For a standard, MIDI ain't so standard! I haven't ventured off into soldering my own MIDI connectors yet.

I quit using all of it and put my 2 pedals right back up front and center and the VH4 stays on channel 3.
