Hey -

I'm having some trouble with setting midi program changes using controllers other than the basic Egnater foot channel switcher. For example I am trying to run a TC G System that channel switches the amp as well as the effects - so each channel on the MOD 100 head is switched depending on what channel I hit on the G system. I can program the g System to send midi numbers to the Head - but -- Do I need to change the dip switches (Switch #7 on) in the Head's chassis to accomplish this?

Any help.

Spak...do you have dual sound? Or single...they are different midi circuit.

Jeff

I have no idea what "dual sound" is or how to find out if I have it. :scared:

I think what Jeff means is...Does your MOD 100 use dual channel modules or single channel modules?

Are units respond to "program change" with an midi pedal. The head defaults to midi channel 1. Sounds like you want to do continous controller messages instead of program changes. Is this correct? If you are having program change issues then I am concerned.

Just try to keep it simple and see if it will do program change. Then let me know and if necessary we can continue further.

Basic program change works fine using the standard Egnater midi pedal. I am looking for something more advanced - I want to be able to program my digital effects unit (G- System) so that the program change from the head is specific to whatever patch I want to assign it to using the G- System floor controller. I don't just want button 1 to be channel 1 - I want to be able to assign whatever channel on the amp that I like to any patch and basically do away with the Egnater floor pedal. Just think of how any pro rig works using midi - how do I get the amp to respond to specific midi assignments so that patch number 276 on my processor calls up channel 3 on the head -- and patch number 234 (or whatever) calls up channel 6 etc...

Select patch number 234 (or whatever) on your G- System then use the little button on the amp to go to the desired channel and hold the button. This will program the amp to always switch to channel 3 or whatever when you select channel 234 on the G-system.

OK -

I pushed the little channel button in on the front of the amp and it is now stuck in the "pushed in" position.

I am pretty sure that each of the 6 channels on the head has a midi number assigned to it that can be stored in the midi send channel memory of whatever rack effects unit being used to change the amp presets along with FX patches.

Thats sucks...it shouldn't do that!

"The MOD50 comes preprogrammed with the four sounds (two per mod
ule) corresponding to buttons one through four on the EGNATER pedal
or program patch numbers one through four on a midi controller. This
can be easily changed. To do so, simply select the desired program
or patch number on your pedal. Next, select the module/channel using
the CHANNEL button. Now press and hold the CHANNEL button for
three seconds. The channel on LEDs will flash indicating the new setting
is now stored. This can be repeated for up to 128 midi patches."

I guess you don't have the manual?

Here's a link: http://www.egnater.com/manuals/mod50revA.pdf
Its possible the switches have been reconfigured to another midi channel other than 1. Read the section on "INTERNAL DIP SWITCH SETTINGS".

Most likely you just need to get that channel button unstuck and follow the instructions. Hope you get it working!

Edit: I realized something that will be different with the G-System configuration than a typical senario. Normally you would be changing channels from a midi foot controler that conects to the amp, then midi out/through the amp to the effect rack. In your case I suppose the foot controler and the effect are connected directly, then out to the midi in on the amp. Take a look at your G-System manual about Program mapping and make sure its enabled. I'll see if I can find the G-Sysytem manual online and take a look, it may be more clear.

Edit 2: Yep, Pg. 46 in the G-system Manual, make sure "Program Change out" is "On" then take a look at the "Program Mapping" Once you get the G-System configured, just follow the instructions above for setting the channels on the amp (provided you get the button unstuck :scared: ).
