To put it short, I'm wondering if there is a potential problem/voltage conflict in using 5 pin MIDI cable from the GCX output->Herbie MIDI INput? The GCX gives my Ground Control power from the GCX "Pedal IN" connection, just wondering if that will also be passed-through to the GCX OUTput which feeds the Herbert...that way both the Herb and GCX will be giving voltage on the same pins and cause a mess??

Should I use only 3 pin cable between the GCX and Herbert?

I had big problems with my Ground Control Pro freezing up several times the other night, as described in this thread

thanks for your insight

Just use a standard 5 pin midi jumper from the GCX to the amp. Unless the cable specifies all 5 pins are wired (for phantom power), it will actually have only 3 of them wired.

Actually, both my midi cables from GCP->GCX and also GCX->Herbert have all 5 pins wired, so I was wondering if this could be the cause for the GCP malfunctioning? Voltage is parallell but maybe the current got too high for the GCP to handle? Should I cut 2 of the pins on the cable between GCX and Herbert?

There probably is a voltage thing going on. The amp sends 18V DC through pins 1&3. The GCX sends 9V. You got 9V running around with nothing to do but mess up your stuff...

thanks Steve, I'll try removing the pins 1&3 on the cable from GCX to the Herbert, so the Herbie will only receive MIDI signals and not send any voltage to my GCX

Glad I found this thread. Having the same issue. So looking at the midi pins, which would 1 & 3 be? Also, looking at the pins, should it be like this :) or this :( ? With out the eyes,
