The going rate up here is ~1500cdn, so I'd vote yes. I've been through 8 of them and never paid more than 800cdn with my last one being in 2018. Wishing I waited to sell them all lol.

Thanks dude, $800-$900 is what I felt would be reasonable…not sure how they get to $1,800

Guess I’ll just keep scouring the interwebs!

I watched Model 4s on Reverb for a while, and a Reverb seller in NY posted several Model 4s over time at ridiculous prices ($1600-$1800, IIRC). Apparently, others noticed and jacked their prices. It seems as if Model 6s are even more ridiculously priced. They are approaching 40 years old. I'd like to have a nice Model 4 or 6, but my money may be better spent on something newer

1800 is crazy, but I havent seen a Model 6 under $1k in a while. I've been looking for a backup for mine and they seem to be selling at $1100-1300 these days, which is reasonable for a MIJ neckthrough guitar.
But yes 1800 is excessively high.

Thanks for this, much appreciated. I ended up going with a new MIJ Dinky which has been absolutely killer!

No chance it's worth that. Almost 2K for a MiJ Charvel model series? Even if it is neck through. You can find a 08/09 USA Pro Mod, or a Chubtone for that scratch.
Crazytown.

I kept a Reverb feed on them for about 6 months late last year and into this year. Really wanted one as it was my dream Guitar when I was younger. But at the time they were at least $1200 for beaters and up to around $1700 for good shape. I ended up settling for a Model 1A in great shape for about $600 from Chicago Music Exchange.

So unfortunately I think that $1800 if it’s in good shape is market these days.

Hell yeah man, the MIJ Dinkys are great. I have a MIJ DK2M that is an amazing guitar.

I LOVE MIJ Charvel/Jacksons. They're such an amazing value for the money (or for any price really, just straight up great shredders.)

In March 1989 when I got out of the Army, I bought a brand new Black Cherry Model 6. Loved that guitar. Until I bought a Hamer USA Centaura. That was the moment I realized USA stuff was a step up. Traded the model 6 for a 412, Mosvalve power amp and a GSP 21 processor. Ended up finding a model 4 for 150; that was my backup guitar along with an Ibanez RG 550.
Ah the good ole days.

Gorgeous pair right there and yea dude they play terrific and the bang for the buck is spectacular. Couldn’t agree more!

Mint w/o a scratch would be $1200-1300 value.
Ultimately the price of something is whatever someone is dumb enough to pay.

I'd never pay more for a MIJ compared to a MIA.

I've noticed, with Fenders, people like to price MIJs high since they're more limited than a MIA that you can just find in Guitar Center but the reality is I never see them go for that much (always less than a MIA).
