Eveyone has seen this, but it's a worthy repost. Greatest guitarist that ever lived. 8) Also, notice the anchored pinky. ;)

Love Jason Becker, but i never liked his tone.

Check out Fabrizio Leo, i love this guys smooth tone. He sounds like Greg Howe meets Vinnie Moore.

Becker and Friedman never had good tone when they were doing their own stuff, or together. Friedman only had good tone when he was with Mustaine.

You'd think a guy like JB with amazing talent would have at least a remote clue what decent tone is.

His tone sucked even then, every time I saw them, when dave would stop playing Marty's tone was ALWAYS aweful.

Yeah, on Music for Speeding and Loudspeaker, his tone isn't too bad. Still not what it was when he was with Mustaine though.

damn how the fuck do you learn to sweep that fast and move that quickly?!

It's called being a prodigy. ;) I think he was only 17 or so in that clip.

I hate when im playing and I look at my hands and I think "Holy crap my fingers are moving fast" and this thought distracts me and I mess up

i'm a bit ashamed of thinking like this, but does anybody else also think that Jason got kinda punished because he was too good? would you agree to be able to play like that at the price he's paying?

i know his playing and his illness have nothing in common, it's just... dunno... :?

Why would he be punished?

Who would punish him?

I don't think about it because Jason wouldn't. He thanks his stars that he's still alive and kickin'. I know I would, even if I could never touch the guitar again.

who would punish him? probably the same "person" that gave him the gift in the first place. whoever/whatever that is.

do you believe he had his playing abilities because of his father?

no, call it "god" for the lack of a better word.

so you DO believe the reason Jason had an incredible skill was his father?

So he believes in his God, his father now, but his skills were earlier than his disease?
