Mod 50 and loop...

I know I have dissed the Mod 50 in the past but I have to face fact. I don't play much anymore and when i do I want the ability to have it be all tube and have some variety so I may in fact look at another used Mod 50.

Some questions...

Do they still offer support for the Mod 50 even though they no longer make it?
What about the loop? The line level loop drove me nuts because most of my pedals never worked in the loop. Are there any easy fixes for this outside of needing new effects? I tried a loop level converter but it did not work too well.

If there is no good way around the loop I may go to plan B which was my plan A for a while - just get a Mesa Electra Dyne and use pedals for variety since that amp takes pedals like an old JMP and is easy to use!

Yes! . . . I'm almost positive Bruce supports everything he's ever built!

Anyone else? One thing I could do is find an old Damage Control Glass Nexus!

The egnater loop level matcher works really well for this. It's totally transparent. I happen to have one that I'm not needing anymore, if you go back that route.

Edit: Mr. Hugh swooped in and it's now on its way to him.

I didn't know we stopped making Mod 50's???

But yes, obviously we support everything we've ever made, and often help out with products that we designed, but don't even have our name on them. Also, the loop level gadget we made not too long ago does work quite well if you're having an issue with pedals not playing nice in the loop.

My mistake . . . I was under the impression that the entire MTS line was on hold until the new production facility was announced and begins operation (maybe I'm wrong, but I could have sworn I saw a post from either you or Bruce a while back stating that). There is a thread over on the MTS forum where a member just recently claimed that Bruce said he "had enough parts to build another MOD50", but I didn't think MOD50's were still officially in production.

In fact, in that same thread I told the OP that MOD50's were no longer being built  . . . so should I go back with my tail between my legs and retract that statement?

I thought they were done too. If still built in the USA, I might look to get another.
The deal breaker for me is that I like to use my analog pedals that will not work in the Mod 50 loop, and I don't want to have to build a new pedalboard for one amp. Plus I hate programming stuff so I am not going back to rack or digital. I know less pedal dancing allows you to concentrate on playing but I just hate programming anything guitar related. I also hate using MIDI.
So what if I bout a Sandals preamp and the Randall RT power amp? Does that come with it's own pedalboard for switching?

Maybe my best bet is get a Mod50 next year and beg Egnater to make me the loop gadget.

It can wait, I am not playing now. Maybe I will just get that Mesa ED been eyeing up.

Yea, I am looking for one of these loop level matcher boxes too. If it's not super expensive I'd rather just buy one. There's the ALA-1 but I guess the Egnater one would be a perfect match for my Mod-50?

If the Egnater folks are listening, how can we order such a box?

The one I just bought from mboogman he paid $150 new from Bruce. PM/email Bruce and see if he has any more or can make you one (it really looks more like a home-made device anyway, rather than a production-line unit).

I just bought a new one from Bruce in the past 2 months. It works perfectly with my MOD50s and other amp heads with line level loops. I highly recommend it.

Does it boost the signal back up or is it just a passive device?

I play the Mod 50 pretty loud and dont want to have a 'I wish it went to 11' kinda situation if I use it.

It's an active device. It has a send level and a return level. The knobs even light up green to let you know it's on. :)

Can anyone notice a difference regarding transparency?

BTW, I'm def going to need one. Last nite I tried some pedals in the loop and all of em were overloaded. I had to turn the pre masters way down.
