I apologize in advance as I'm sure this topic has been discussed here many times... I searched the forum and couldn't find any posts and can't find my manual! (let the flaming begin!)

Where do you guys set your preamp master vols? I know it's all interactive and these volumes have an effect on the series loop - any suggestions?

I'm using a MOD 50 with a Line 6 M13 in the series loop, and Egnater reverb in the parallel loop.

Any advice and/or links are appreciated! Thanks!

Since I'm not using effects right now my levels may change because I don't have to worry about overloading an effects unit. I usually have my module's master somewhere between 11 - 2/3 o clock. higher gain is usually closer to 11 and then lower gain is set higher in the master to compensate for volume differences

Jeff gave me some great advice........I keep the master volume at around 2:00, then run the pre masters as necessary. When playing at home, the pre masters are around 9:00 or less, but gigging or playing at good volume, they normally reside around 10:30 or 11:00.

Thanks guys, I'll give that a shot.

Buckeye, just so I'm sure I understand: amp master on 2:00, then use module masters for actual volume level. I'll give that a shot, but it sounds like I'll have to balance all the module volumes everytime I make a change...

My M13 arrives Monday - I'll let you all know how it goes.

Thanks again!

Sort of, but it's really not that difficult......at least that I've found. Guess it depends on your situation. You know if you can get them fairly close, then just go ahead and tweak that master........2:30, 3:00, 1:30. At least you have the master up fairly high. So if you need just a touch more/less volume, don't change each pre, just adjust the master.....or add in a little presence if you need some cut. Good luck!

Somewhere around 12 noon works as a good starting point for both MV. For me it's slightly lower on the amp master volume and slightly past noon on the module. Clean sounds are way up on the module MV around 2 or 3 o'clock.

on my t/d, twin side dimed, deluxe side @ 3 o'clock

on my erect, A side around 1 o'clock, B side around 3 o'clock

the mod50 has a killer series loop that actually seems to work properly, and so long as your equip in the loop handles +4db properly, you're laughing.
