Where do you guys run your presence control on your Mod50?

Previously, I don't think I've ever moved it past 1 o'clock. Usually keep it at noon.

I was just jamming, and decided to knock it down to zero, to see what it did. To my suprise, not THAT much. Then I turned it up to 3PM. I was expecting it to be excruciating, but it sounded great.

It seems like the presence comes on REALLY slow from 0 to about 7, and then from 7.5 to 10 it goes from great to icepick.

Seems like a different sweep than I'm used to... Is this because it's a linear pot, and not an audio pot?

Either way, I'm glad I decided to really turn the knobs this time... I really like the presence at about 230PM-3PM.

I run mine typically from noon to 3 oclock depending on the room's brightness / darkness.

I usually never run it past 10:00, but I prefer a darker, warmer sound.
3:00 Eric? wow, that would be super bright in my jam room!
It's amazing how different everyone's settings can be.....

In the Egnater manual it says to keep them at 9:00 or lower for high volume playing since they were designed to be used for low volume playing. I find it sounds best about 11:00 and sometimes I lower it at high volume.

Usually just 12 or 1 o'clock. But i'm going to mess with it at practice on Wednesday! It's one of the knobs i never turn! haha!

i use it as a variable. it depends on the room, the guitar, the cab, the overall acoustic situation, etc.

sometimes it's totally off. sometimes it's around 9 o'clock. rarely more than that.

Try this.......close your eyes and set the knobs where they sound best. Mix with your ears, not your eyes. It is normal for the Presence knob to not have much change from 0 to about 12:00. After that it starts to come on a little faster. Between about 3:00 and full up is the range where the most change takes place. It is a linear taper control. Audio would be worse because it would come on even slower. Reverse audio makes it come on faster but does not allow for the subtle changes you get at lower than 12:00 settings. FYI, you will find that most amps with a Marshall type presence circuit will act very similar.

That's what I did bruce! and I'm glad I did, because in the past, I set it with my *eyes* and just kept it at noon. When I set it PAST noon, then I really got some tones that I was looking for.

I'm going to start closing my eyes more often!
