I watched several videos where the guy went through most if not all of the Egnater modules. What I want to know is do they all really sound different? The one thing that immediately turned me off about the Randall stuff when that came out was that all the modules sounded very similar but with varying amounts of gain. To me, they didn't have a tube amp feel and they all responded the same.

What I'd like to know is how much different the Egnater modules are really and if the feel of each module is different, like the amps they emulate.

Also, what's a good price on the used market for a MINT MOD 50?

Tough to say man unless you try it out for yourself honestly. I feel they may have sort of the same overall character/feel, but I also feel many of the modules sound really different ala the Deluxe and Bassman vs. the SL and SL2. Then some of the guys have been modding them to the SL2X and EG3/4X and those are quite different I think. I have both as well as the EG5 and I tried to figure out if I had some redundancy so I could sell one, but they each do something very cool and different, so I'm keeping all three. As far as feel and all that, well again as you probably well know, that's just such a personal thing. But I've had Budda, Marshall, Fender, VHT and once I played the Mod, it was all over.........for "ME"! I also loved those other amps, but man with the modules, the easy bias adjustment with the ability to swap out all different types of tubes, the feel and the tone for me it's just an amazing piece of gear. It was instant for me, then all the tweaking just added to the fun/tone. Some other guys though, it takes a while to work through the various settings/tubes to get their tone. Some guys aren't "tweakers" per se, and it just may not be the amp for them.

Also given it basically has volume/gain on the modules and a master gain and a high/low power switch, it won't act like the old single channel Marshall plexi either. So if that's the tone/feel you dig, it may not get you there.

Forgot, the way it is now is that you can get a used Mod for maybe only a few hundred from new. There have been a few up on the classifieds that I've been surprised that it took them that long to move at a very fair price. In the last few years, you almost had to pay full retail even on the used market just to avoid the wait. If you can get one with two modules for around $1,700, that would be about the best you could do I think.

The Egnater modules have different flavors across the line. Some modules can be similar to others but generally that's due to the fact that they are based off a similar circuit--Marshall. The SL2 and EG3/4 are similar but side by side, you hear and feel the differences.
Other modules like the EG5, COD and VX each have their own distinctive voice and feel and sound like nothing else in the lineup.
I own or have owned most of the Egnater modules and have never felt one duplicated another.
