Tell me, guys -

Since the modular preamps have no tremolo or reverb circuits, what's the best way to get these kinds of FX in the signal chain? Since the modules are separated from the power amp, do you simpy insert rack-level FX in between the two?

Thanks!

i run a furman rv-1 reverb unit between the m4 and rt2/50 amp. it is a line level unit.

Yup, you basically got it. There are also a few pedals (like t.c. nova pedals or eventide pedals) that take line level effects as well.

You could also run a mixer so that you plug in the m4 and effect unit into a mixer (the effect unit also has signal coming from the m4) and slowly blend in the amount of mix, so your signal doesn't have to all go through the effects units. I believe a few effects units (rocktron intelliflex?) does that internally as well.

I use the Lexicon MPXG2 with great results for pre-gain effects and post-gain effects. It has the option to be able to set the mix of both your dry and wet signal, giving you a feel of a "wet / dry" rig. I still have yet to find a EFX unit that is better than it for my needs. Only one that looks promising is the AxeFx.

Thanks, Eric, I'll check into the Lexicon.

I'm building my rig a little at a time. I just ordered a Randall RT2/50 as the first bit (20% off due to a promotion at MF).

I'm going to wait 2 or 3 months to put in an order for the M4 so that Jeff and Bruce can get all their backlog taken care of. After that I'll start looking for an FX processor. In the meantime the trusty AC30CC is still sounding very sweet.

Eric,

I've never tried that before (MPX-G2).

Does it have patch change latency issues?

How is the delay? Multi tap?

The delays are awesome man. It has a mono echo, and digital delay, a stereo echo and digital delay, and a 2-tap echo and digital delay. I really like it. I've been using it for years and have had great results. The noise gate (programmable per patch) is insanely good :). It has a small latency issue when changing patches, but, only when adding effects. It doesn't drop out soundwise. I honestly don't ever really notice it at all, since it's not dropping my tone out. It takes about a 1/4 of a second to change patches. Ones that don't have as much effects, are shorter. Ones that use a ton of effects are a bit longer. I personally have had zero issues with it.

You could always place an order now to get on the wait list, and when yours is ready the dealer will contact you and then you pay.

How 'bout a G-Major?

I had one of these. They are not built well. The scroll wheels basically stopped working on mine. They would turn but it wouldnt change the presets in line with the number of clicks I was turning. It was actually a very common problem with those units. Sounded pretty good, but build quality was very suspect. I wouldnt recommend it.

For sure. But I have a method of dedicating $$$ towards equipment purchases that has the approval of The Lovely Woman With Whom I Share My House, and I don't want to get ahead of myself.

I've had mine for 2 years and have never had a problem with it. Sounds great too IMO.

I have just gotten the g-system and love the effects but it is definitely not plug and play.I have spent the past 24 hrs working on matching presets with the M4...WHOOOOAAaaaa
