Mod50 cab matched

Hi,
just wonder if I could plug an 8 ohms cab to my Mod50 16 ohms combo. In some forums I've read that it could damage the amp, but in the user manual of the Renegade it is said that in such a set up the impedance switch has to be set on 4 ohms.
So, is it safe to do it?

General rule of thumb is that you can go higher, (16Ω into an 8Ω output), but not lower. Giving a power amp less load than it's looking for can be damaging.

I'm sure it is. If you're using both an 8Ω cabinet and the built in 16Ω speaker, you would want to set the ohm switch to 4 ohms. That should be safe.
