Figured I’d post the two badass Marshall’s. One which I’m proud to be wrapping up.
One of the best sounding Cameron Aldrich 100Ws on the face of the earth. Only two versions of this one exist. This one’s a copy of the original made for a famous artist, built by @dawnofdreamx97 in a 1996 Reissue with the high quality Dagnall transformers. It has a depth control. This one’s all business, there’s no cleaning up this high gain with your volume knob. It gets down to business.
The second on the bottom is my own creation. I’m calling it my Enmity mod.
1974 Marshall SLP 100W with 6550s.
100W, hi/lo footswitch input control on the fly which is 4 gain stages or 3 gain stages both retaining a cathode follower.
True bypass metroloop with a dedicated relay that’s footswitchable.
Footswitchable truely seperate master volume for either a silent mode on 0 or can be used for a solo boost. It’s wired such that it does not have any interaction with the main master when it’s not selected unlike most other secondary masters. No weird shit with this dual master.
Depth Control on the back.
External -10dB or 20dB switch for the metroloop level.
DC heaters. Dual bias control. And it was modded to look completely stock from the front. I didn’t stop tuning this circuit until it could hang with the Cameron aldrich but still have a working clean with your volume knob on the low input. It brings the heat and is functional. I’m only reducing the noise floor as much as I can now on it.
Soon I will be recording both of these amps with a Royer 121 and an SM57 with a solid setup and mic pre.
HOWEVER. I won’t be saying which amp is which ?
? I will setup a poll and you can vote.
Stay tuned
