I fried the output transformer on the handwired 100 watt plexi, so I replaced it with a Mercury Magnetics plexi model. I also had the filtering lowered to the "earlier" plexi spec, just for fun. Here's a clip of the "new" amp trying to cop some Ratt. The amp is boosted slightly with an eq pedal and tamed with an Ultimate Attenuator. Hot PAF type and Greenback speakers, also. I put the original first for comaparison. Man, this as a HOT riff. I couldn't quite play it fast enough, but it was good practice. Let me know what you think.

Ive always loved that Riff! Ratt definitely had some cool riffs for sure. that said, I think you are getting a very cool tone. The only thing I can say is don't be affraid to add more boost because the original definitely has more gain then yours!

Cool riff!

Like Ralph said, the original had more gain but the tone you had working sounds great.

How did you fry it???

In canola oil   No, seriously, by running it on 10 into the UA. The Merc is holding up, so far.

Ouch. Bet that was fun! Those things have some pretty serious iron on them - I'm kinda surprise it fried. Clip sounds great to me. Those are very underrated amps, IMO.

Cool song, band and clip! More clips when you get a chance!

sounds good man! I just built a 1987 with MM transformers. What mods did you do? I'm getting ready to tweak mine
