What tone enhancements can you do to make an acoustic guitar sound better?

for electric guitar there is the big brass block or higher string gauges etc.

but what about for acoustics?

Nothing much other than keeping fresh strings on there. Investing as much as you can reasonably afford on an acoustic is the biggest thing.

I was going to ask this, also. I have a cheap Yamaha, because I don't play it much. Recently the band has been doing acoustic shows and its hard to hear. It does have a preamp to hook up to PA. I've replaced the string pegs with tusq. May do the bridge

Practice.

...and get a good acoustic. If you have a good acoustic, it really won't need any real mods except time. It will sound great when you get it and will only sound better as it ages.

Get an LR Baggs para acoustic DI. It's got loads of gain, and really powerful eq options.
