Me too man! I recently just rebuilt a '93 Marshall Super Lead Reissue. Tricked it way out with new tranny, ptp board, Sozo caps, and so on. It's a lot of weight to lug around & hook up. The SL cover that territory just fine.
Same with a Matchless that used I owned, lots of extra weight & hook up time. The VX covers it's territory just fine.
I still own a ton of amps, which I rent out. I've completely discovered that aside from the weight & hook up savings, the modules actually sound more refined and more versatile than all of the original amps..
Fender Twin '65 Reissue - Great sound, but 85 freakin' pounds a piece! To hell with that, slide in a T/D, done!
Fender Bassman '59 Reissue - Sounds awesome, it's not all that heavy, but fawk it, the Bman does just fine, if not better.
Marshall 4100 & 2555 - Both are cool, but the SL & SL2 cover both of those and more.
And lastly, just the other day I bought a Splawn Quickrod for fun. Sounds awesomely 80's, but it cost a lot and does ONE good sound. It's going up for sale if anyone wants it. My SL2 or EG5 covers that ground just marvelous!!
I seriously have tried to get away from the modular, just to keep from having to explain to people on how cool it is, lol. I'm seriously tired of explaining to people about it. They ask a million questions about it, and seem all interested, but in the end, they still stay with their shitty Line6's or whatever. Bruce & company need to seriously do some more promoting of the modular line, because so many people don't even know about it!!
