Okay, so I know this topic has been discussed here and there and everywhere... I've searched back through old posts and other sites trying to find out more opinions about preamp tubes. Obviously I find a lot of suggestions and opinions regarding traditional amps, but not a lot specifically regarding the Egnater modules.

I recently ordered a handfull of different 12AX7 tubes for experimentation purposes, some NOS, some current production etc.

Do I need to be concerned about any mis-matches in the Modules (V1 or V2)? I've read that you have to watch out for "cathode follower" positions, but not sure if that applies to the modules themselves? Anyone confirm?

Can I just go crazy and try all sorts of different 12AX7's in either V1 or V2 positions, in any modules without any technical problems?

Also, regarding the M4 modules and the 2 tubes in back, are any of these considered Phase-inverter positions? Does the M4 even have a PI? If not, why?

Just trying to learn more about this incredible preamp that I'm really really digging.... Also, any opinions about what tubes your using in your modules specifically, which module and how it affects your tone would be greatly appreciated (especially NOS tubes)...

Nobody??

Okay, what if I just asked this question(s): Do both V1 and V2 positions impact each channel A and B equally? Or, does one tube impact one channel more than the other? Etc. ?

All the modules (to my knowledge) use both tubes on both channels. A lot of guys will use different tubes in different slots. I've come to understand that V1 has more to do with the overall gain of the module. I might be wrong though.

Thanks for the input.... my tubes just arrived today, so I'm going to try some out this weekend.... not sure what to expect just experimenting.
