Has anyone here tried a Mojotone Grand Canyon 4x12 yet? It looks like an oversized cab but it has a small port at the front. Their claim is its the tightest 4x12, I'm assuming thats marketing hype but still curious. Looks like they are $769 unloaded w/ free shipping so I may just have to try one myself. Their take on the V30 sounds pretty cool with the clips I've heard too but maybe just a little too bright for my tastes.

Love the badge in the bottom corner.
They are FINALLY listening to me.
-get these last names off the dead center
location of MY amplifier and my cabinetry’s.
Now.. the “Details”,
I wish they would have feathered in more
cool shit like Tron, Star Wars, Star Trek ,
Lost In Space, Scanner’s & the
Andomeda Strain in a 4X12 guitar cabinet
up there on the stage OR
-the highlights of an all nighter’
Dungeons & Dragons module!!!

I’ve had my eye in these for awhile. they look nice and price is great.

I have one , it’s an excellent cab.

For reference I have been through a bunch of 4x12s recently. I have a Bogner, Fryette and Mesa 4x12 now along with the Grand Canyon. Hopefully that doesn’t sound snobby lol, but it’s worth mentioning.

Comparing those cabs to the Grand Canyon there is a larger difference than comparing the others to each other. My Bogner and Mesa for example both have v30s and sound pretty close. My Grand Canyon also has V30s and sounds a lot more open , especially on the top end. The other cabs sound like they have a blanket over them compared to it. It seems that the projection of the Canyon cab is also very wide and even throughout the room. It’s is not a very warm and compressed sounding cab so keep that in mind.

The only cab I have owned that sound similar was a Mills 4x12. It reminds me of that cab however in my opinion it sounds better. It is less harsh and more full sounding. I found the Mills to be very clear with great projection but it was also very focused on the upper midrange and highs. I was surprised at first and figured that it was because it was a slant cab. A few years later I found a used straight version thinking it would be different , nope. Long story short I think the Grand Canyon is great if you want a very open and neutral sounding cab meaning that it doesnt impart as much of its own coloring on the speakers as most other cabs.

I remember reading these Mojotone cabs use thinner plywod than Marshall even?

I think I might bite the bullet, its cool you can customize them too. I contacted them on Reverb and apparently if you give them a call you can customize stuff not listed on the site such as being front loaded etc. Might see if I can order one 2x15/2x12 ala those Friedman cabs.

empty Splawn cab is $599, shipping would depend on where you are.
