These cabinets seemed promising and heard some good things about them at first, but recently saw a few show up used on reverb. Has anyone here tried them? What did you think? Wondering if they didn't live up to the hype with a bunch coming up for sale

I have one. To my ears they sound similar to the Mills cabs I had in the past. Very clear and articulate, tight bass. But they do not have a big lowend, they are more midrange focused. That was also the case with the Mills. So I’m not sure if it’s because of the oversize cabinet shape that effects the lowend in that way or if it’s because of it being ported. Because I found the same thing to be the case with the port city 4x12 I had. The port city cab had even less lowend.

I have the oversized 1x12 loaded with an Avatar AV75. Sounds huge. I did add some batting inside ala Bogner.

Interesting. How’s the high end on it? Is it dark or bright or neutral sounding? How tight would it be vs a VHT Fatbottom or Diezel FL 412? Those are my 2 tightest sounding cabs currently, but I find their bottom end chunk to be pretty decent still

Buddy of mine has one and loves it and he's pretty cork sniffery about gear

The highend is open and clear, it's not harsh at all though. I found the 2 mills cabs I had to both be a little overly bright and even a little harsh. Not the case with the Grand Canyon. The bass is VERY tight, Ive had the Fatbottom cab more than once and its in that realm but just doesnt sound like a front loaded cab if that makes sense. To be honest for a while I thought the Grand Canyon was the best sounding cab Ive had because of the openness and clarity. It's more recently that I found myself wanting more lowend. I think I might like it even more with different speakers possible but right now mine has V30s which I love in general but maybe more bass heavy speakers would be a better match, Im not sure.

H30s were a bit harsh in the mills, though i kinda dug it. Redbacks are the fucking match though

If you are looking for basically a V30 with an extended bass thump, meatier mids, and a more pleasing high mid - check out the Avatar AV60.

I was shocked at how much bass punch and thump they have.
