Monomyth Modded Marshall 1987x vs Wizard Modern Classic

Two amps I really like for different reasons.

Tried to dial them in as good as I could with this DI reamp.





Straight in on all amps.

Thoughts?

Both sound great - I prefer the extra "clang" on the wizard, I think

Wow, you really did dial them extremely similarly. The Marshall has just a bit more mid-emphasized character but the Wizard is wider with bigger lows and more sheen / detail on top. They both sound great. The "better" sounding one would depend entirely on the rest of the mix, I think.

The Wizard was tighter on bottom to my ears but also seemed dialed in slightly less bassy/more treble-presence?. I wouldn't say one was better than the other until I hear some additional chugging plus searing leads. Some very sweet amps. I've wanted both of those for some time but money, space, and necessity do not align with such purchases.. Tthank you for sharing them with me tho.

The Monomyth has the treble and presence maxed. I could have moved the mic but this is where I usually place it for optimal result. The Wizard had plenty more high end on tap. Both had plenty more lows but I was trying to make it more balanced.

Generally I use the Monomyth from standard or drop d thrash type stuff. It doesn't really excel with this style.

Yeah, the Wizard has JJ EL34L and the Mono Tesla EL34.

I was really trying to set them to my preferred tone for this type of riff which took some work. They are actually very different amps.

Both amps have a good master volume so it isn't too loud. Loud enough to use ear protection though. The Monomyth isn't very bright. Very mid focused.
