Morse/Dregs type sketch to punish Ed DeGenaro

Here is a raw sketch of a new tune I just wrote for Ed DeGenaro tentatively called, “Southern Gothic.” Ed seems to be digging it, so it is now in the “let’s get it done phase” – which means I’ll be tracking the drums in a week with Marco Minnemann and then bass with Kevin Freeby (Planet X, etc) and sending the rhythm bed to the Teutonic one ASAP. Ed wanted lots of notes in the style of Dregs/Mr. Morse, so this is what he gets! As I’m scraping for material for my next Hectic Watermelon album, so an arrangement of this may be on there as well.

Guitar is EB Morse and (unfortunately, very poorly recorded amp) is Egnater MOD 50 with SL2 pre. I bring in the VOX very low during the cut-time polymetric juxtaposition over the bridge and outro figure.

Impressive chops! What kind of settings did you have on the SL2? Same as in the settings thread?

I ask because it sure dosent sound like the bright switch is set on 2, that gets really bright!

Ha! Good ears, yeah I have it on 1...but the big thing is that I only have a single mic on the paper, for a much more articulate recorded tone, I like to have a tiny bit of the cone mic blended in the mix, but just a hair.

Sounds killer! is making me thinking of going Sl2 over Eg5

nice playing!

Just a 57 hitting the paper about an inch of the cone. Probably 4" out.
