I have played in many countries.
I have played to many different kinds of people.

The most interesting location(s) from my personal history would include:

Performing in Alexandria, Egypt. In one of the oldest continuously populated cities on Earth.

Performing on the flight deck, of a war ship, in one of the most historical areas of Ukraine. This was an amazing experience, even if it was just a normal band practice on a duty day.

Playing several locations on the island principality of Malta, which was eye opening and still amazes me today.

What are some of your most interesting locations for a venue/performance?

I know some euros will have some inherently obvious choices and may take some cakes, so to speak, but share anyway.

I'm not really talking about obvious historical venues....just places. Uniqueness is encouraged.

Such as, playing on the flight deck of a ship, while underway...in the middle of the Atlantic, or the middle of the Mediterranean.

Hopefully you understand. No right or wrong, but looking for unique.

Cheers🍻

Brantford train station. The building is mostly made of mahogany, brick, stone and tile. Very unique reverberations because of the materials/shape/size of the building. There's regular musicians and singers who come here to make use of the building since it's usually empty and it's free. The few people who work here don't mind at all and appreciate the entertainment.

Btw Detroits Harpos was my home club to play at one point . I thought Irock was killer . Opening for huge bands every weekend . I miss that shit
Did you ever play Hart Plaza?

Did a good amount of work for gospel and blues festivals, along with others. Separate stages stashed all over and different foh and mix desk rigs going at once.

Pretty cool down there.

Here is a tale that I alluded to in the OP.

My most unique event happened purely by accident, and built by word of mouth, in the manner of minutes ...and kind of created an issue for the port of Odessa, Ukraine while we were there.

We had a massive party on a dutch vessel, and we needed to practice, but the helicopter hanger was full. So we decided to practice on the flight deck of our ship, which could be openly viewed from above, via the observation level .. so people would gather to look around and just walk.

We had finished the first song, sweet emotion, and looked up to see several hundred people clapping and cheering.

We looked at each other and kind of had an oh shit moment....well, we gotta practice anyway, fuck it , right?

We then go into dead or alive, and shit hit the fan. By the end of that song there was close to 1000 people, and they were losing in...and they started slowly making their way down towards the ship....crap.

By the time we finished Baba O'Reilly....I lost the ability to think straight and had to focus on my guitar, because I was totally jazzed. There was a line of people 3 wide...all the way up the steps, up to the observation deck...and more were coming, and they wanted to meet us. Shit.

I am not claiming we killed it, because we were just amateurs and we didn't have massive sound reinforcement...but this was insane. People loved the music, Western rock, so much they just were overwhelmed. It blew my mind.

After the practice, with much anxiety, we had to open the ship to them, just so we could get them out of there. It went well, all behaved themselves and the daily ship tours became quite popular there.

This was 99-00, We were there for a month off and on, during one of the top Euro football tournaments....I want to say the euro cup🤷🏻‍♂️
I remember being in the dutch ship when something big happened for them. And that's when I learned how hard they party!!!😝

Lots of casinos, A fake castle, an abandoned train station, a bar with a dirt floor, a few ren fairs, Clint Holmes birthday, Kenny Kerr birthday, a hotdog restaurant and a cafe below a computer cafe where the 9/11 hijackers communicated from the same night, a water theme park, and the Space Needle. My daughter played a show on the Hiyu ferry.

My last band was minutes away from playing a show at a Golden Corral lmao

Some rapper was hosting an event there and invited us to play

We found out at the last minute the dude had no gear and expected us to haul over an entire PA system so we said fuck dat

Was disappointed; really wanted to play Golden Corral strictly for the lulz
