Mounting a mic stand to a pedal board?

Basically, I cannot get my mic over my board enough to sing into comfortably without extending it till it tips. This also causes issues when I have monitors in front of me on stage. I'm curious what the best way would be to attach a mount for a mic stand to the top of my board. Any ideas?

Here's a pic of my pedalboard: http://custompedalboard.com/MK-630-AL-EDG-6.JPG

For the white plastic piece (which isn't very sturdy and has broken on occasion), you can find a brass piece as an alternative. I'm not sure what the exact name or size of these pieces are but you should be able to find them at some sort of hardware store near you.

As for the mic stand, I used one that had a round base (not the common 3-legged stands), and I just unscrewed the base and found some stuff at my local hardware store to fit on there.

I know that seems like a vague description, but that's all I got. I've seen some other similar ideas on other pedalboard sites, but I can't find a link for them. Just use google! Hope that helps!

Dude, you rock. That is exactly what my board looks like. About 3/4 inch alder board with u-channel. You were able to find that round base part at the hardware store? I have a 3-legged stand, so I'll prolly just hack off the flange at the bottom of the stand, and rig up some sort of pipe + thumb screw to keep it in place. If i can find that round base part, then i'll be sitting pretty for our gig Saturday.

the correct answer is hire someone to step on teh pedals for you!

edit: My son doesnt know it yet but Ive been secretly training him to handle that job for me when the gigging finally starts happening again :o

Yeah man, hope it all works out. Just make sure you make time to work on it...it can get tricky when you're trying to make the base fixed where the stand doesn't want to move and whatnot. My plastic pvc thing I have is crap...it works for now, but it's broken a few times and I've just replaced it with another one. Have been too lazy to look for a brass one (they didn't have it at my local hardware store).

Shit, I need to start reproducing. Maybe if I get right to it, I can have a full road crew in about 15 years.

Actually...that's not a horrible idea. hahaha.

Ha, that would be nice...I really got tired of mic stands falling on me while trying to fix the mic at that "certain angle," so now I can stomp all I want!

I've machined an aluminium piece of pipe with an inside diameter the same as the outside diameter of a mic-stand and welded 2 strips in a 90 degree angle to it. These strips are screwed in the right back corner of my pedalboard. Works like a charm...

That would be great man, my setup is fairly sturdy, but not as sturdy as I'd like. Thanks!

Dude, worked like a charm! I got a 3/4" threaded flange attached to my board like what you got on yours, then a 1 foot section of 3/4" threaded pipe. When I get to a show, I screw on the pipe, then I slip my mic stand into the pipe. It's snug enough that it doest flop around, but easy enough to remove for quick teardowns. Thanks a lot dude!

A week later than promised due to a non-cooperative camera but here they are:
