hi!

after 3 years of being using and abusing herbies, i changed my mind and i rediscovered the vh4, its true that herbert is more metal focused, but, the vh4 have more realistic tone, its more funny to me play with the vh4, sound more organic...

now i know why almost all the pro musicians and studios worldwide are using the vh4.

peter...thanks!!

Berni, tell us your opinion on the VH4, specially after being a Herbert user for a long time.... :)

The ideal setup is to have both amps IMHO. I have a VH4 and alway wanted a Herbert too

hi!

well, there we go...

herbert is a super amp, with a lot of stuff, and updates. but for me, after more than 500 gigs, and 6 herberts heads owned, there is a big problem with the reatibily of the amp, always in my opinion, but i had been a lot of different issues with them.
valve problems( pre valves included), leds failed a lot, midi doesnt work some times, and a lot of little crack noises, including radio station noise...

maybe i have bad luck, but....6 heads, different production years..., same problems. sorry by this peter, but its my experience...

i have a floating rack, furmans, best cables money can buy...etc., so...

so i talked with several friends in united states( i am a prs artist and bogner artist too), and several persons said the same to me, including pro guitar techs, roadies,etc... the vh4 its more roadworthy, so... i changed my mind cause i am in love with the diezel´s sound, and probaly the herbert is the best sounding amp in the world, but the vh4 its the closest thing.

and now the sound difference:

cleans are more usable, thanks to the gain pot. you have 4 channels... incredible channel 3 sound!!! and very well balanced on the 4 one.
plus you have inserts on every channel, perfect effect loop....etc

i think that herbert is in general more compressed sound, and the vh4 its more organic, and your right hand have more work, so for me is more controlable.

but all is my opinion, peter makes the best amps, but, the herbies need more attention on the production, and make them better, i know that some of the times its a problem in valves stock, or failed leds, but, in a top of the world amp, this is not permited  , i have a lot of amps( bogners ecstasys, uberschalls, triples and duals, roadsters), no one sounds better than the herbies, but, there is no tech problems at all.

so i put all my faith in the 2 news vh4 that i have ( killer sounds), and get ready to tour around spain for 30 dates. so i will tell you...

i've never had one problem once ever with a herbert and i've played close to 1000 shows using my own and various other herberts when on tour in europe. love this amp and it is single handedly the MOST reliable and well built amplifier. it blows my mind that you've gone through 6 different heads!

i still owns two of them, and i keep with me, but, not for the road... :aww: , maybe its bad luck, but for me, vh4 are more sturdy.

best,
