Moving question part 2: Rack Gear

So wondering, I have 2x 10 space rolling studio racks.

Would you take everything out and bubble wrap/box the rack units or save space and mount them then wrap the racks for extra protection?

Trying to save space in the truck if possible. My only concern is the racks are not shock mounted.

Depends on how tight the truck is packed and how much room they have to move around.

If they are very securely wrapped up, and don't have room to wiggle around, I think they would be okay... but that's a big if

Couple of foam pads underneath, picking the racks up off the truck floor, and securing it to a wall of the van or packing it between sturdy objects might help. I'm not sure how well that rack is engineered, but if the rack devices are heavy, like a power amp, it might separate those rack ears if you're bouncing down bad roads a lot.

Not a lot of experience in moving musical devices, but a lot of experience in packing gear and electronics in heavily vibrating aircraft :D

Yeah I may just box them to be safe…

I used a 10u non shock case when we traveled (before I could afford the shock racks) and as long as they are secure in the truck you shouldnt have any issues. Its hard bumping/tipping over that the shock racks make the difference. Just make sure the guys are careful and they are secure and ya shouldnt have any issues.

If your taking I10 in Texas the road between San Antonio, and Houston they are doing a lot of work. Roads are tight and old in places. I drove from Orlando to Seattle going through LA last week. I was avoiding the weather.

Can always fold cardboard and put under the rack wheels for a little cushion, if you don't have something like car floor mats or throw rugs to put under them.

JoAnn’s is going out of business, you should be able to get some 6” foam cheap.

I'd keep it all in the rack but lay it down in the truck so the rack ears but bend from a possible big bump..
