hi guys! A VERY fortunate turn of events determined that we're moving to Vienna in June, me and the girlfriend (soon to be wife).

I'm going to establish my Voice Over studio (commercials, dubbing, e-learnings, singing, etc in Spanish an d English) and we cannot wait.

I wanted to know what you guys know about Vienna and the music scene, I wanna tour tour tour A LOT (as a solo acoustic singer songwriter).

anyways, I just wanted to share this with my european friends from the Diezel forums.

I'll be visiting Germany a lot too due to closeness, same with czech Rep. Poland (fiancée is from from poland), etc etc etc.....

Cool Joey. Bad Steben is a 5 hours drive from Wien (or so). And a good chance to modify your Joe as well ;-)

I live in Bratislava, which is the capital of Slovakia and is about 45 minutes ride. Vienna is a beautiful city with great sceneries, architecture, history and really nice people and in general a really awesome place to live in. As far as music goes, on the 27.6 you should definitely go see Paul McCartney on one of the local stadiums. Honestly, some of the best gigs usually take place in Vienna mostly in Gasometer, then some of the local stadiums etc..

Thanks you very much. We're very happy about it. Initially we were gonna settle in Stockholm (still think it's an awesome place and who knows in the future) but this opportunity came up and we're gonna be in Wien.

I gotta get on german classes as soon as I get there I just hope it won't take me too long to be fluent.

Olaf, I'm quite happy my friend, I will for certain visit the Diezel HQ and you also my friend. The Joe will be for sure modded to my new less high gainish requirements if it's fine with you.

I'm interested to know how's the bar gigging scene over there, I have an EP out and Im recording another one and I wanna play out as much as I can.

Hi Joey

I'm an Austrian native :)

My brother lives in Vienna and so I visit Vienna once in a while.

Besides my Diezel lunacy I also do accoustic stuff (http://thaddaeusband.info/). Maybe we can arrange something together once. For example there (http://www.vienna-unplugged.at/).

BTW if you have the need to play Diezels in Vienna you can do this here: http://www.klangfarbe.com/. IMO it's a good store.

Feel free to contact me if you want to know something (even not music related) about Austria or Vienna. Maybe I can help you.

Yeah Joey!!! Vienna is beautiful. I'm of Austrian heritage and have been several times, stunning European city. Congrats...

Suddenly I like uncle mo even more! :) Fellow Austrian here, no kangaroos!

Vienna is very beautiful but the rest of Austria would tell you not to mind some of the crazy folks you will encounter there too much :P While you are there, take a trip down south to Graz and generally Styria too!!!

There are a lot of bars and clubs in Vienna, in terms of music you could check out "FM4", that's the Austrian radio/tv broadcasting's youth oriented station; they organize festivals too ("fm4 frequency") and you can find a lot of local gigs on their website, that should give you an idea of what's going on and which clubs to contact. Just, don't expect a HUGE scene worthy of LA-la-land...

Oh and in case you are originally from the States or UK: hate to tell you but barely anyone knows "Sound of Music"... it is pretty much unknown here and hardly ever shown on TV. Kids might learn about it in school in English class for the first time or never see it at all.

And don't worry, most folks can speak at least some English and should be quite happy to do so, don't let that irritate you into stopping German classes!

Surprise your new friends by having heard of or listened to some "Falco", "Opus" and "STS"! ;)

omg 80s... haha :)
