I saw the U2 show in Raleigh NC last night with Muse opening - awesome show from both bands, but truth be told, I enjoyed Muse more than U2 - one of my fav bands, and they played phenomenally. I know that Matt Bellamy has an M4, but does anyone know if he is actually touring with it? Just curious if what I was hearing last night was Eggie or not.

he should be we sent him 4 of them! Last I heard he was.

that show was phenomenal. I loved muse also. Where were your seats. I was about 10 rows from the bottom right at a 45 degree angle fromthe drum set. Perfect seats. Loved both u2 and muse. Incredible show. Pics and videos coming soon. ;)

We were in Section 20, about the 50 yd line on the lower level - about even with the front leg of the "spaceship" - perfect seats, IMO. Great sound, great shows from both U2 and Muse. One of the best shows I've seen in a while. I wish Muse would've played a little bit more, but what they played was great - would've like to have heard Stokholm Syndrome tho...

Sort of OT , but I read another thread where Phil from Def Lep has the m4 .

Jeff ,what mods are in his??

What an amazing show!!! I was about 15 feet from the stage, right in front of Adam Clayton. Holy shit I loved every minute of it!!!!

:2thumbsup: I saw them last Tuesday 29th in Md at the Washington Redskin stadium. great show. I kinda liked Muse better also. Killer sound. Anyone know what the thing on the back of his guitar was that made the weird noise?

It's a MIDI touchpad. He has them on several of his guitars. Not sure exactly how it works, but he uses it as a control interface to a synth somehow. Here's a link to Manson Guitars, showing the ones he has made for Matt http://www.mansonguitars.co.uk/Muse gallery/index.htm

Their bass player loves him some fuzz too! A lot of the tones that I always assumed were distorted guitar or synth lines on the CDs were actually bass lines with uber-fuzz on it.

I was there too - Section 6, just a few rows under the upper level (pretty 'nosebleed' considering the price). The spaceship 'leg' was completely blocking the view of Larry, but we saw everything else really well. Surprised at how loud it was (or maybe being just under those rafters, where it trapped the sound), but was an awesome show.

I really enjoyed Muse (anybody know the setlist they did other than 'Uprising' and 'Undisclosed desires'?) and have looked more into them since the concert.
So.....what mods is that guy using?

The songs that I remember:

From "Absolution":
Time is Running Out
Hysteria

From "Black Holes & Revelations":
Starlight
Supermassive Black Hole
Map of the Problematique

From "The Resistance"
Uprising
Undisclosed Desires
Unnatural Selection

There was a thread somewhere that talked about his mods right after he worked with Jeff and Bruce - I think it was VX, EG3/4, T/D I think - can't remember the other one? Jeff would be able to say for sure.

I had thought about going just to see Muse and bolting before U2 came on, but I decided Ill wait for Muse's headlining tour. I had a feeling they werent going to do Exogenesis and I will need to see that ;) Plus tickets were too expensive to just watch Muse do 40 mins and then leave.

The XY pad sends 2 signals back to a voltage --> midi controller. The pad is basically just a big potentiometer. As you move your finger in the x direction it changes the resistance. Same for the Y. It works exactly like a palm pilot touch pad. The voltages that are sent to the controller are then used to control Midi CC's. He sends midi signals to a Korg Kaoss pad to make all the weird noises. One of his older guitars has the strip from a keyboard ripped out and uses that to control a whammy pedal with the same principles.

Also, just for anyone interested the amp on stage with him is called a Dickinson? I think. I'm guessing just for show though.
