LONG story short. Purchased a musikraft neck few months ago, upon receiving it, it had numerous problems. I send them an email documenting my issues with the neck and requested them to call me. I left voicemails, tried calling, etc and they never returned my call.

After sending me a return UPS label, they got the neck back in their shop and offered to give me the $$ as credit toward resubmitting the order. I resubmitted the order (now ~$600 neck because i added the roasted neck option and 5A neck wood) and I received the neck this past week. They actually fixed all my concerns with the last neck except for a new issue the 1st neck didnt have: there are deeply overcut fret slots (in my opinion). I looked at all my other guitars and none were nearly as bad as this neck.

When I try to measure the gap it seems to be about 0.5mm or ~0.020"

Would you guys accept this neck as is? Should I send this 2nd neck back? Honestly I'm pretty fed up with musikraft at this point. This is a $600 custom neck. My $40 squier neck off ebay has better cut fret slots than this.... :scared:

My last franky neck order (few years ago) was PERFECT and the fret slots were WAY less of a gap than this... Even the 1st neck on this order (that I returned) was less of a gap than this.

I tried warmoth necks in the past and was not happy with their builds (but I like their custom bodies). I'm not sure if I should keep this neck as is or return it...

Any issues besides visually? I'm not up on this, would/could it cause problems in the future or is this an aesthetics type thing? Can you feel it when you play or run your hands up and down the neck?

That's a really nice fuckin neck man, lol....given the issues you had returning the last one I'd think there'd be even more returning this one and personally I'd probably give up and play it. Life is too short for hassles. This is assuming nothing bad will happen to it because of the deeper fret slots. If so fuck em and send it back; take your business elsewhere.

It is your money, it's your choice.

I have several custom shop guitars I paid well for. All of them have some issue I noticed right away. I got a great price on them all, so I kept them. But I have stopped buying them from that company.

$600 for a custom neck seems pricey to me. I would hope they are stainless steel frets for that price. The gaps beneath the frets will fill up with gunk eventually, won't they? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I can't believe they didn't notice them, and at least fill them in with wood putty or something. But if it felt good to my gorilla mitts, I'd keep it. It is a manufacturers defect, so it should be covered by warranty.

yeah -
SS frets, 5A back neck wood, 4A/5A fingerboard wood, compound radius, asymmetrical back contour, roasted option.. That's the thing - I cant believe they let it go out the door like this??? Am I crazy??

I have several Musikraft necks and they are perfect in terms of the fret slots. That is not right, IMO. It may be just visual, but you paid $600. I'd ask for my money back... I don't think you are being overly picky here at ALL.

Steve

I'd send it back. Doesn't make sense to let them off the hook because they continue to get it wrong.

for 600 it should be perfect
they are trying to weasel out on you man'

$120 neck is one thing, just re-fret locally with longer tang frets. But $600? I'd be sending an email and I would be pissed.

I'd send it back. While researching necks for my parts build, I've read a few things about MK I'm not liking. I may go with Warmoth.

Absolutely not, mang. That's big money for a bolt-on IMO. More importantly, it is your money. Customer service and satisfaction should be king.

Scott called me and I'm shipping it back for a refund. I'm so frustrated with this order.

I wonder how that happens. I'd think it's all done by machine.

That's a beautiful neck but for that price.....nope. Back it goes. :aww:

Aren't there dudes out there that build necks? I'd imagine $600 could get you a nice neck from the right guy. That is if there's anybody left that isn't a hack.

I'm constantly bitching about this shit. Drives me fucking nuts. Nobody gives a flying fuck anymore it seems.

Seems like that with EVERYTHING these days... nothing can ever be done right. Mechanics, doctors, etc..

Anyone ever heard of Sweetwood guitars ? There replacement necks look very nice with pocketed fret slots . I stumbled on to there website a couple of weeks ago but can't seem to find out anything else about them .

Doctors and Dentists, both completely unaccountable (not responsible for results or consequences) for their work.
