Comparable to...?

Best as stand alone OD, or boost?

Lot's of coloration or transparent?

Any noise issues?

Comparable to: a really really good tubescreame. It's an op-amp chip based overdrive, just like the fulldrive.

Best used as: A boost. As a standalone OD, it's pretty midrangey/tubescreamer'y sounding.

Coloration: gives some nice, hot thick mids, in a good way. But they're more like fat mids, rather than the plain old TS mid-bump.

Noise issues: none

Thanks, those were the answers I was hoping to get.

I have one and like it a lot. It is pretty transparent and clear sounding. It is aggressive in the mids but it has thick mids, not just a high mid bump. It is pretty even sounding. I use it with the level up high and the gain at zero. Thats how I set any tube screamer type pedal. It sounds clearer than say a Ibanez ts9. Its sounds kinda like a maxon 808 that is not a compressed, it also sucks less bass than a 808.

Bottom line is that it is an awesome pedal at a good price. I got mine from The Axe Palace

i dont believe the GT-OD is actually a Tubescreamer circuit and possibly more a MXR distortion+ ciruit, with the clipping section reallocated to be more tubescreamer like. i cant confirm it thou as i cant seem to find a schematic for this pedal anywhere.

as a boost on top of high gain amps, IMO its right up there.

This!

I was surprised how transparent it was when I first tried it. It has that signature TS mid hump but not overbearing in the least.

In the end, I went for a Xotic BB Preamp instead cos' I like having the 2 band active EQ.
