My Custom Kerry King inspired V build - Pt. 2

Since photobucket went lame and all my old pics in the first thread popped out, figured I’d start a new thread.

This is being built by my bud Paul at Zeegler Custom Guitars. Based off the Kerry King ESP. A while back I got a Kerry Kong Krank prototype and a Marshall MF400 and decided I needed to compete the KK rig. Spec’d This guy out and Paul got started.

Subsequently sold the amp! LOL!

Guitar has come a long way! I think it’s in the homeward stretch!

I can not tell you guys how stoked I am for this! I know he will be working on some test pieces of wood for the finish soon so when we decide on something I’ll post some more!

In the works I believe. He is just starting to get ready to take orders. He was generally building for himself and I got him to do this.

I can PM you his contact info though. He is aware I'll be doing that.

What made you want a Kerry kOng V? I hope it allows you to play better leads than Kerry does !

I have always loved the ESP KK V but I am NOT paying $10K for one, and I currently only own a Gibson V. I am a V fan and wanted one that was more "modern". I also love the BC Rich's but again, not going to buy the import and NOT paying $6-8K for one that isn't spec'd how I'd pick one out.

You have heard me play... I'll leave it up to you to decide if I can hang in KK's league! LOL! He may have me beat...

Apart from the shitty "crackle" paint job on the original those KK ESP V's are killer. Heavy as fuck too being all maple. Be nice to spec one out that's lighter. That guitar takes me right back to seeing them tour for Season's at the Orpheum in Boston. it was so glorious. Best metal experience I've had, with Pantera at The Channel, in Boston as well, a close second.

I actually dig the crackle but I am doing a stain on mine.

He is actually building himself one at the same time. The guitars have 5 piece maple/walnut necks, body wings are flame maple with mahogany core. Stringers are different for each guitar. Mine has purple heart/walnut stringers. Ebony board, Flame maple cap on headstock as well to match the body.
