I turned it on this afternoon and played for about 5 minutes... Low volume....

And it just shut off and the red light on the front went out...

I tried a different outlet.. Nothing....

I pulled the fuse that is just inside the a/c plug connection.. It was burnt...

There was a brand new one inside the plug so I replaced it and tried it again... Blew that fuse also....

I bought this amp used and have only played it for about 1/2 hour...

Going back to GC tomorrow....

They said they would give me my money back.... I love that place...

Or I could have it sent out to there repair guy to get it fixed....

Not sure what to do? I really love the sound that comes out of that amp but, if this is any indication of how reliable they are then it needs to go back...

this SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

Bad power tube. They'll take out the fuses. the nature of tube amps man.

Your frustration is understandable, high hopes and expectations dashed. I hope that Buckeyedog has it surrounded, he may be on to something.

Sounds like you are headed back to GC tomorrow with the amp in tow. Since you will have it with you ask about option #3, checking the power tubes - or some similar quick and easy checks. Being used, they may not offer to swap tubes for free (or would they?) if that indeed is the problem. If it comes down to it I encourage you to consider buying some. As stated, it is the nature of tubes to be used up like a lightbulb in a lamp and every once in a while you get one that lasts nowhere near life expectations - no use throwing out a good lamp when the lightbulb goes. Granted, still sucks.

If you have an update after your GC visit please post, very curious. I admit to having a personal interest, being a TM4212 owner. I have had no issues to this point, and I am hoping to hear that your problem is an easily managable one.

Had CH2 cranked with a Fender this evening, loving the tone. Would hate to see you walk away from what I consider to be a very good amp based on a bad power tube. Chances are good that you could be looking back in the near future with satisfaction that you did not hit the eject button too quickly.

Good luck.

Well, I couldn't wait...

Put the amp in the car... (Man is that thing heavy)

Drove down to GC and Kevin meet me at the door...

He wrote up a repair slip and was sending off the the repair GURU>>>>

He is even going to get the foot switch fixed.....

He said he is taking care of the bill for the whole SHABANG>>>>

He gave me the option of refunding my money but, I had to give the amp another chance...

I have tried over 100 different amps with my LP traditional and this is the only one that I kept coming back to.....

I update when I get it back....

not trying to advertise but, GC rocks..... If I would have bought this off of craigslist I would have been screwed....

It's upsetting, but there is likely less here than meets the eye.

It probably is bad power tubes. Particularly with a used one, who knows what was in there or what condition they were in?

Could maybe be the power transformer too.

They'll fix it up. This can happen with any tube amp, NOT just Egnaters.

Big "NOTHING WORKS" kinds of problems are actually usually pretty simple to fix. It's the "it does this sometimes under certain circumstances occasionally" problems that drive you nuts.

Mine has been very reliable. You'll be ready to rock in no time!

I am heading down to C today to look at a Rebel 30.

I need another amp for practicing at my band members house and lugging around the TM isn't gong to be fun.....

Can't wait to get it back...
