I know they (Josh) is known for great customer service and whatnot and his pedals are top-of-the-line but, I wanted to share this because I've done my best to be patient and have finally just given up.

I had an issue with my Spring Chicken LE and so I messaged Josh asking if he could check it out for me. Here are our e-mail messages (notice the dates, etc.):

Hey Ryan,
You can send it to me and i'll look at it. Please include on a piece of paper the symptoms and a return address

Thanks a lot! I sent out the Spring Chicken today. Hopefully I can get it repaired.

Thanks

Josh Holley,
I sent in my Spring Chicken LE Reverb pedal nearly a month ago for repair. No rush or anything, just wanted to check up on it.

Thanks,
Ryan.

Hey Ryan,
your pedal is here and is not looking real good, i've replaced everything except for the Belton brick itself...did it ever work for you? I'm curious if the previous owner killed it.

Really? Ya, it worked for me for a half a week or so. Nothing I could have done to it though. I literally put it on my board and played with it a couple times. Never even gigged with it. That's really weird. Thank you for taking a look at it. Sorry for any inconvenience. I really appreciate it.

I'm still on it

Sounds great. Thanks again. Like I said, absolutely no rush whatsoever. Just wanted to make sure it still existed and FedEx didn't mess something up.

Hey man. It's been awhile, wondering if I was going to get this pedal
back anytime soon?

Thanks,
Ryan.

Any chance of me getting this pedal back anytime soon?

Thanks,
Ryan.

I no longer have the e-mails he sent after that. I deleted them, they made me too angry.

But to summarize them -
Since so much time had passed (6 months at this point), I sent a message pleading for him to let me know if I had been scammed so that I could just leave this whole thing alone. (I sent 3 of these e-mails before getting a response)

He basically told me, dude I sent that thing out months ago, you never received it? And asked me why he would scam people out of his own pedals? That he'd been in the middle of a move up north and sent it out before he left.

I sent him a message back professionally and respectfully stating that I had not received the pedal and if he by any chance had any tracking info, etc. And that I apologized for the "scam" message but figured that perhaps someone had made a fake e-mail address and was impersonating him. I then asked how he could blame me for coming to that conclusion after so much time had elapsed? (Again, sent about 2 or 3 of these messages before getting a response). One of which I stated, "although I appreciate your work, I am going to be posting on the gear forums about this fiasco, it has gotten out of hand and I think people should really know about this." That got his attention.

He finally responded saying he did not have any tracking information but assured me he would have the guys at the warehouse look for it as long as I promised to stop harassing him about it. And if he could not find mine, he would send me a "regular" spring chicken to replace it.

I bit my tongue told him thank you and figured that despite the headache and the time that had past, I'd forgive him. I didn't hear from him for another month so just two weeks ago I sent another message-no response. I've given up....and I'm out $220.

Dunno anything about the pedals, or the maker, but here's what I see;

You bought it used, you sent it back, it got lost, and he's sending you a new one? Is that right?

If so, I'd be stoked, not pissed.

I've bought a number of his pedals new before but yes, I purchased this one used. That was why I was completely stoked on the service at first. I thought-really!? You're going to fix my used pedal and all I need to do is cover shipping charges....sweet. But it didn't end up like that. I fell like I've been getting the run around for the last 6 almost 7 months. I haven't received any pedal, not even my broken one...not even an e-mail message for months.

(and I had paid for return shipping).

I never send anything without a tracking # unless it's a replacement speaker label. I've learned the hard way you have to keep records/documentation and not ignore your clients, even if it's a warranty or repair situation.

I seriously would be okay with him at least attempting to work with me. I sent him a message stating that I would be content with purchasing a new one at a discounted 10% or free shipping or something like that price (since I had paid for return shipping once my pedal was repaired). That I appreciated his attempt and that even if he was unable to fix it, I'd like to simply hear from him. Like I said-I was completely stoked that he was even going to look at my used pedal. If it was dead, so be it, but I didn't even hear from him...

Call and say you want to talk to him about a 20 piece order.

Don't know who that builder is or what his products are and now I don't care. That is bullshit treatment. Period. It is amazing to me how many "I sent that to you a long time ago" excuses that people use. At the very lest cover your ass with a tracking number!

There is no excuse in not using/having tracking numbers. Especially when it is someone else's gear. Assuming you have these emails as proof (screen shots) you could make quite a fuss on a forum like Harmony Central Pedal subforum and maybe this guy will buck up.

That is why no tracking # or receipt with a zip code instantly gets classified as Full of Shit, never shipped :jerkit: to me..

I'd post this on HC effects or something but they're huge Malekko fans, they'll just turn it around on me somehow.

If you guys are ok with alot of the tactics From Boutique Builders then you`d be OK with the Federal Government. :aww: :aww: :aww: :aww: :aww: :aww: :aww: :aww: :aww:
