A couple of weeks ago I finished building a new 2 X 12. It's a dimensional copy of an Avatar "Contemporary" series 2 X 12 - that is, it's slightly oversized in all dimensions, very similar to an Orange cab. My build is an open-back design.
I equipped it with one Weber AlNiCo Blue Dog and one Weber AlNiCo Silver Bell after calling Weber and talking to CJ. This speaker combination just flat kicks ass. The Blue Dog, as many of you know, is Weber's clone of a Celestion Blue. The Silver Bell, which is said to be modeled on the Celestion Silver Bell from the '60's, has a very strong bottom end and not as much midrange punch or high end as the Blue Dog, so together they provide a full and balanced sound.
This cab really brings the M4 / Randall RT2/50 combination to life. I'm diggin' it.
I'll be taking the whole rig on its first road trip / live performance next weekend. I can't wait to open it up a little and let 'er rip!
