I haven't posted over here in quite a while, so I thought I would post up my settings and 2 clips of my Mark IV for anyone who hasn't heard them over on HCAF. I see a lot of MKIV bashing going on because of obvious tweaking problems, and I hope this helps some people find their tone. Enjoy and let me know what you think of the clips.

I really don't get all the "Mark IV is hard to dial in" talk. I never had a problem getting good tones out of the ones I've owned. you just have to twist knobs with your ears and not your eyes.

I agree.

Which should apply to all amps, doesn't matter where the knob is set, its how the amp sounds. I find that's easier said than done, as I often think, of I can't turn that lower than 2 or higher then 8.

What I find interesting is that most of the mark IV settings I see are pretty similar overall to what I am using....

I think most people end up with very similar settings, my settings are really close to that, I just set my graphic EQ a little differently.

Ditto..just a few adjustments with the graphic eq here, though even mine is set very similar. I was also used to weird eq's...the Peavey Ultra Plus I had before the Mark IV had an active eq, so you had to set it up different than a normal eq anyway. There are so many killer tones in a Mark IV.

Yep thats for sure, I just spin knobs and change EQ constantly when I am not feeling the tone, then I eventually find something I like again, bad thing is I never take the time to write down what settings I had liked, so everytime my settings end up different than before

YO Joe I've just never been a big Mark fan but I do like it recorded much better than heari g it in person and damn man you got it sounding reallly awesome on the KSE clip. Good shit man.

BTW any chance I could get a copy of the back track?

Derek

Derek, thank you for the compliments! Let me fire up Cubase and mix down just the backing for you. I'll post back in a moment.

Ok Derek...here it is. This is just the part I recorded over. I made the backing myself and never finished it, but at least you have this to play with. A few notes:

1. After I added the guitars, at mixdown I added compression to the whole mix. I took this off for the backing track so that you can add your own compression and make the mix gel better with your guitars.

2. The bass is synth. Sorry about that...it isn't the best. However, with the right tweaks at mixdown, you can make it sound pretty good (I think my final mix with guitars has it sounding decent.

3. The BPM is 124 in case you want to add a metronome.

Have fun and post clips you make with it.

End of Heartache

Joe

That clip is just too awesome   Makes me miss my Mark IV so god damn much

Cool settings Joe! Mine are pretty similar. Either way, good clip. Keep posting and I will as well!
