My Tweaker died :-(

I've been enjoying this little amp in the 3 months I've had it but it died on me tonight while playing unfortunately. It seemed to be working fine but once I got the master to about noon the sound stopped and that was it. The lights are on but no one is home! Both the power tubes glow and look normal but I can't get the thing to make a sound. I don't have a spare set of 6v6's around but I hate to buy new tubes for a 3 month old amp that hasn't been used much. Does anyone have any other suggestions before I bite the bullet and buy a set of tubes?

Thanks in advance.

Well I tried some 6L6's in it with the same result. I guess I will have to contact Egnater.

Try the B+ fuse??? If a power tube went bad, it likely took out the B+ fuse. I'd contact Egnater anyway.

This is what worries me about buying a Chinese made amp with inexpensive parts, the thing dies at a gig. I tend to spend a lot on amps, and it can take me a while to save up or pay em off, but I have the confidence in them that I can't have in something like the Tweaker or Renegade, etc. :(

those amps are built with quality parts- tubes blow-fuses save the amp-thats; why they are there in all amps/

Try swapping out the preamp tubes too and see if one of them is bad.

what does made in china mean to you? It means a well made product, not like back in the 70's. I'll take a made in china product anyday. Ever own a usa made Chrysler-, usa made cars are disposable p.o.s. Whats this USA made product I can use as a gauge that's of great quality? Any chinese people work in American plants? Or does some toothless redneck in alabama set the bar for quality.

Trea - You need to keep some spare tubes around, because when the amp doesn't work, the tubes are the first thing you have to check to be able to tell what the problem is. Tubes are an item that has to be replaced periodically, like your oil filter or spark plugs in your car. Otherwise you will need help every time a tube goes bad, which will probably be at least once a year or more.

Knowing how to change your tubes is like knowing how to change a flat tire on a bicycle. You don't have to know how to do it, but you don't want to have to have somebody do it for you when you can do it yourself in like ten minutes.

It is not unusual for the original tubes to go bad within a few months. So do a little research on how to check for bad tubes. Get some spare tubes.

When your amp craps out and you're not sure what it is, ALWAYS check for bad tubes first.
