hey y'all ,
i have my rig wired with moster cable - pedalboard and all .
its all studio pro 1000 , and it all picks up the radio !
its fine if you use just a cable from guitar to head , but introduce even one stompbox (from any manufacturer ) and the radio appears - which is a shame cause i actually like the prescence the monster cable has .

questions are :
would this have anything to do with the head itself ?

would an ISP decimator cure it ?

or if it is indeed solely the cable causing it , can anybody recommend a good transparent sounding cable to replace it with that will work well the the VH4 specifically ?

i have cordial (too compressed ) and george l's ( too bright ) cables , but don't like either of those .

george l's ( too bright )

Not so, they are neutral, transparent cables. Monsters are not, they cripple out the top end & have some weird midrange.

My personal favorite: mogami, sounds very similar to george l cables.

interesting - i'd read that the mogamis were pretty lifeless -

http://www.lavacable.com/pdfs/CableSummit4.pdf

and i stand by my assesment of george l's - to my ears theyre too bright .

anyway , i'm not looking for a cable argument here -
i want to know if anyone else has experienced this level of microphonics from using their VH4 with certain cables ( especially monster ) .

and if they have , how did they remedy this and with what ?
;)

Did you read that somewhere?

Don't buy into that. It's not doing that on my rig at all in the studio where I am currently recording. I'm running George L's between my pedals and I have Monster cables running the board into the loop and into the front of the amp.
No issues and everything is very clear. They are very nice, high quality cables. I've been able to compare with some other cables as well as a pedalsnake (huge microphonics...a DISASTER that was!) and the Monster cables are crsip, clear, and clean.

One of the options you may want to try is small Morley HumX or their small Ebtech cable isolator. I had the hum/microphonic issues before but it was due to the pedalsnake not liking my amp.

Did you read that somewhere?

I've tried a bunch of cables once side by side, Monster cables sounded the worst from the bunch. So no, I did not read it & that's how I chose Mogami & Canare cables over others.

I have a monster bass & a monster guitar cable for sale if you like them.

i like them too - they make the top end a lot livelier on my VH4 than the others that i've tried , and have great presence and detail .

i'd like to find a solution so i can keep the monsters ....

fair enough....

I did some pretty intense comparisons myself as well. Hey....hopefully I didn't come across the wrong way with my post....apologies for that if it did...it wasn't intended that way. I was in a store on Saturday and some guy was talking about all of the cables he knew of and he was referring to a Guitar Player mag article without even having tried them! I thought it was funny to say the least.

I like the George Ls stuff. I like the Monster cables. Again, it also depends upon the current rig you run. I tried the Mogami cables as well. They were nice but I didn't find they better or worse. I guess it all comes down to what you like and what works for you.

One thing that I do know is that Pedal snake product...well that definitely doesn't work for me!

Hy guys,
I only know, that Peter Diezel uses Cordial
..Cordial Speaker-cable 2x1,5mm2 Ultraflex CLS 215-392 between head and box
.. Cordial Guitar Cable top performance CGK175 between guitar and head
... he recomended me this cables, when I was in Bad Steben in factory

..so the amp in factory, when is made, is made by Peter, when used with Cordials. So I think, if you really wanna the Diezel sound, that have Peter in mind.. go with Cordial.
By the way, one of the best ampmakers here in Czech Republic says, that Cordials are best in his oppinion too..

I use Cordials too, but keep in mind that some Cordial guy is a close friend of Peter's. I read this somewhere here.
That makes a difference, I think.

I compared Cordial's and Sommer Cable's top of the line products. Both have charts with the electrical attributes (conductivity, isolation between wires etc.) on their sites.
Cordial CGK 175 was a little better. That's why I bought them.

Yes, it could make difference, but when I was by Peter in Bad Steben.. he had only about two or three of them there and no more cables and really uses them.. he plugged them from another amp, he was working on when I cames, and uses it to test my VH4, so that was not something like advertising for Cordial..By the way.. at first I used my guitar cable, that I took with and he shoved me this one that he uses to hear the difference, and it was really big one :) , and he told me it is the Cordial only becouse I asked him for what Cable it is, I asked for pencil and peace of paper and wrote it down for me to buy one at home :) ,whenever I didn´t ask, he wouldn´t told me.
All at all, that day Peter did the BEST for me on all possible sides he was able too, I was really shocked, how he invited me and how pleased he was to me, and keep please in mind how busy this guy must be, and it was no problem to solve all of my questions or problems and all in very pleasant atmosphere. Since that day, whenever some one asked me in my country for my opinion which amp is the best or so..and compare to Bogner or MesaBoogie or so, I tell them, that one thing is sound..yes it is important thing, but think about the other side of things and it is the customer service, and I think that there is no other big ampmaker in Europe, who provides you the customer service like Mr Diezel ( I am not really sure, if there is some who provides almost the half of service like Peter Diezel), and that is why I tell everyone.. GO WITH DIEZEL and there will be no problem ever  , especialy in Europe.

And I think that one thing is to have some guy like friend .. but second to use the best cables because of want to make the best amps.. whenever he will not use the best, that he will go against him self, becouse IMO it will make bad differences on amps he made too.. so I really belive, that Peter uses this cables.. and not only because his friend is from Cordial..

with all due repect to peter and everyone else here , i dont really care what cables he likes - i dont like 'em !!

again , has anybody experienced this problem and if so , how did you remedy it ?
;)

Dude, I Absolutely have the exact same issue as you do with picking up radio stations on my amp. I have the herbert though. I also use monster cables with about 4 pedals in front. I have no idea why it does that and I wish I could figure it out. I also get craclking sounds too. The cables are fine too.

I think all of them.....? I play an ibanez and a fender all of them with duncans. 59 and custom custom. U think it matters...?

well it happens with some of my guitars , yet not others - so i did wonder if this was relevant .
however , if i change the monster for a cordial or george l's going from guitar to pedalboard it doesnt happen at all - so that eliminates the guitars .
also , its intermittent when it does happen - sometimes it picks up the radio and sometimes not .
so i'm blaming the monsters !
if i didnt like the sound of them so much , i'd change them all in a heartbeat ....
i might try a decimator pedal and see if that works .
