Hi Evervybody....
I'm well-satisfied VH4 user and I plan in a few months to buy another tube head to compliment the VH4...So i'm in the country in France and don't have the ability to test amps as I'd want....I'll go to PAris in 2 weeks for my job and I'll try yo go to test some amps there....but before, I can only listen to samples (often bad quality) on the web, and ask you guys who have really tested or owned a lot of amps, which would be the best ones....

I can tell you I play some Heavy Progressive Rock with my band.....I love guitar tones like in Tool.....I'd want something haevy, but airy and organic....I'm not look for a VH4 CH3 clone as I already own it, but an amp who is differnently voiced to tighten my vh4 sound....

I was thinking about ENGL Invader100 but some say it's too solidstate like tone, or Brunetti XL-R evo, buit some say it's not fat enough, So.....?

what do you think guys...?

Sounds to me like you've already go the amp in question - airy, awesome, prog-metal style - that's the VH4 for sure. The first amp that comes to mind as a "little brother" is the Einstein, but it may be too much of a tonal change for you - pointless if you're not going to use it.

Looking into Bogner, Fuchs, Cornford, Bad Cat, etc.

If you want to play 2 amps together, I've heard amazing things of the VH4/Einstein, VH4/Uberschall, VH4/Vintage Marshall combinations.

Good luck!

my recommendation would definitely be a marshall jcm 800 or jmp !
i do it, brent hinds of mastodon does it, it sounds awesome, they compliment perfectly.

You must have an older VH4 because mine it tight as hell on 3 and 4.
I think the Herbert with it's lower compression and voicing adds a less compressed,
yet HUGE tone when mixed with the VH4. When using CH. 3 or 4 on the VH4 I find
Ch. 2+ on the Herbert at a mid gain setting makes the amps sound way fatter.
Also, the Herbert with the mid cut off has more of a compressed tone that mixes very well
with the VH4. With the mid cut off it's still not as compressed as the Einstein, but it's different enough to sound
very good when mixing amps. So you may want to be opened minded for a big brother to the VH4.
Some other amps that I have personally blended well with the VH4 are a 78 JMP, 2555 Silver Jubilee and 1992 Dual Rectifier.
In mixing, I found different speaker cabinets to be very effective in phasing each amp. When you hit the right setup the tone is
wide and huge.

I'd also be inclined to check out a Rivera KR100. It's a uniquely voiced amp with some terrific added benefits.

Just thought of it - might be worthwhile checking out if you want to stay in the boutique league of amps

Yes I agree with mark2c the herby is a nice mix with vh4 and also the bogner uber sounds great to.

ok thanx for all your answers....

I thought about RIVERA KR100 yet, the other guitarist of my band has a Rivera Fandango, very good amp, but seems not to be fat enough for me....but now listening to Bogner Extacy 101B...... wouaw...huge sound.....

I'm sure Herbert is a very nice amp.....but want to mix my vh4 with something else than a Diezel amp....but the choice is not definitevly excluded.....

Anyway, I go to Paris in 2 weeks, and I'll try to test some of these beautiful amps there.....anyway, I got time (no money today....I have to wait)

The Herbert is such a different direction in Diezel tone than the VH4. That's why I know they work very well
together. It's frightening how good they blend with each other. On the double positive side, the Herbert with the Mid
Cut off is like having a six channel amp with notably different tones from each giving a total bevy of tones that mix well
with the VH4.
