Still one of the best bang for the buck amps out there. It won’t displace a 2204 with a boost; but does a damn good impression of one.
I had the 50w head as a backup 10 yrs back….I think I paid 150$ for it. Lee Jackson circuit; better sounding imo than his Ampeg VL, Metaltronix, or his name branded amps. 3 channel amp with a super quiet loop..good clean…

Prices have crept up on these but they're still a good bang for your buck. I converted my combo to a head. Sound great through a proper 412. The added bass response from a rear speaker mounted 412 helps rein in any of the fizz. Much better than through the open back combo. I personally run mine through a 212/115 cab and it sound massive. Go sparing in the presence too.

It sounds incredible congratulations!

There has been aBlue Voodoo here locally for sale I know nothing about them, are they any good at all?

My Blue Voodoo experience: I worked at a music store in the Bay Area (California) that was a Crate dealer when those amps first came out. We unboxed it and expected it to sound meh because it was a Crate. We plugged it into a new Marshall 1960A with the stock G12T-75's. Hit the first chord we all went "WTF?!". Couldn't believe it. It sounded vicious. Like a wicked modded Marshall. The stock Blue Voodoo speaker cab is meh, but they also made a version loaded with V30's. I haven't played through one of those, but through a stock Marshall 1960A, the Blue Voodoo kills. Nowadays I hear Blue Voodoo clips and think "that amp needs a recap". (They first came out 30 years ago). I want to pick one up when I can. It's a good idea to get them recapped as they are old. ANOTHER THING TO KEEP IN MIND, the Blue Voodoo heads and the combos are COMPLETELY different sounding amps. The combos try to be Fender-like, but fall short. Avoid the combos if you want kickass high gain. The killer modded Marshall tones only come in the head version.

Man, I had one of the combos loaned to me from the music store I worked at, the store closed and I still had the amp, owner told me to keep it. I gave it to a buddy when I moved because I only used (and thought of it) as a cheap practice amp. Add it to the list of things I did in the 90’s I still kick myself in the ass for, like selling a Mesa Studio Pre for $125.

just picked one of these up on a whim. Haven’t been thrilled with the Lee Jackson amp tones I’ve heard but for £200 I’m up for hearing it and trying it for myself. My tech sent me a clip of it with a lower voltage with a variac and it sounded killer
