Purchased this from RT member Last Nerve last week. There were a few issues that needed to be addressed, but she's running perfectly now. This is by far my favorite Bogner amplifier. Covers AC30 tones perfectly, with a much better preamp than my AC30CCH. It also does AC15 tones, which is something you don't get from an AC30. Experimenting with various brands of tubes results in major changes in gain structure and feel. I'm running RCA BP in V1, V2, and reverb return. a 5751 BP at the PI, 4 x TAD EL84's, Sovtek EL84 reverb send, and a Mullard GZ34 rectifier tube. Been playing along with "Damn The Torpedos" all day!

I tried to capture clips using my iPhone in the past, but the sound quality is not very good at all. I have a mint Yamaha MD8, but I'm too lazy to hook it up. I'll mess with it this weekend. The clean and VOB tones may be the best I've ever heard - no hype.

Cool man. I've never tried one of these amps. I should try and track one down to give it a go.

Nice amp!!! I had a 2x12 Metropolis and I wish I'd never sold it.

Still A/B testing it against my AC30... I think I actually prefer the Metropolis. The AC30 may edge it out when pushed, but I really like the Metro's 5 way voicing control, especially when using it with clean tones.

Congrats on the Metropolis. I have a Metropolis 15 combo now which is in the classifieds, but I am thinking of pulling my ad and keeping it. It is such a cool amp and inspires me to play differently than i do when using bigger higher gain amps. it takes pedals really well. I use a Bogner Burnley in front of it schizo 4 and it turns it into a kick ass face melter while still staying more vintage in flavor than a typical high gain sound... Great amp.

Enjoy!!

I recommend replacing all the resistors with Xicon MF... They emit a very musical, saturated type distortion...

I recommend you build an amplifier that sounds like something worth owning. I love the look of your Henning Cherry Bomb, but the sound... The top-end is harsh, midrange sounds like a Rockman, and the bottom-end is as non musical as a Mesa/Boogie Mark IV.

I can build a better sounding amp with my cock!
Can't wait to hear it!

You wouldn't like it. It doesn't do RATT tones, nor does it sport a parallel effects loop... ;)

Come on man, you don't have the guts to post clips and you know it.

I don't really need to. It basically sounds like a vintage Vox AC30. There are several decent Metropolis clips on YT... Mine sounds the same.

This is a good representation of the Metropolis...

Charlie said it was made in February of 2004, and was constructed just prior to the RoHS solder era. I've heard the earlier "pointed" tube models are not the ones to get. The "pointed" models are the ones with the tubes which protrude from the side of the chassis. I guess Bogner changed the circuit quite a bit.
