Hey all. I recently sold my Mark IV and have been on the search for a new amp. I loved the Boogie but wasn't meshing well with my cab. I wanted something less focused and more fat (if that makes sense).
I am still looking into getting something through Gainfreak (Ralph) but took a chance on an amp I have wanted for a long time. I decided to go with the 6L6 version since I felt it was a better match for my V30 loaded cab.
My first impressions are great. I can tell a difference between a 101b I played a couple of years back. The cool thing is this amp can go from polite and refined to crunchy and grungy. I am surprised how heavy it can get. I am still trying to learn what all of the switches and knobs do but each channel is very usable. The cool thing about the integrated Boost feature is that it stays fat (doesn't thin out with my normal overdrive pedals).
I'll give a more detailed review after the honeymoon but thought a NAD deserves clips too. I recorded the Night Ranger clip yesterday with the Red channel (no boost). I did my best on the solos since I am too lazy to learn note for note but thought it turned out pretty good.
Then I decided to go a different route and record the Alice In Chains clip with the Blue Channel (Boost on). I like the audio clip version better but some like to see vids instead.
Both clips were backing tracks I found. All the guitars are mine.
Here is a pic and the clips are below. Hopefully you like it! I am surprised how much I enjoy this amp after only 5 days.
