I just couldn't resist - a very, VERY good offer came in today...so I bought it. :D

I'm very impressed by the versatility of this little monster!

No kidding! I played one for a few hours before I got the Herbert and I was impressed back then, but now I can appreciate it even more. :)

Any suggestions for good settings for 80's rock and general heavy metal?

Don't have an Einstein myself (I have the Herbert), but many others here do and will chime in I'm sure. Best bet though is start with everything at noon (well, not master vol of course) and adjust to taste. Also, ch2 saturation and compression level - percieved by the ear that is - is affected by what mode ch1 is in. Try switching the modes on ch1 while you're playing through ch2 and you'll see what I mean.

Channel volume 1:30
MV 11:00 ;)
Treble 1:00
Mids 11:45
Bass 11:30
Gain 1:00
Presence 11:00
Deep 1:00

Reverb to liking

Wow the blue light is bright ....

After you try this, give these setting a go.

Channel 1, mode 2
Channel vol. 10:30
MV 10-11:00
Treble 3:00
Mids 2:30-3:00
Bass 12:00
Gain 3-3:30
Presence 2:00
Deep 1:00

Then, when you go to mode 3, and all you need to do is roll back the gain to noon, and your golden on that mode too!

Anyone else who wants to chime in? :)

Also - for Terry: Is this for ch 1 or ch 2?

2 for the 80's rock stuff. Sorry I forgot to mention the channel.

I've had a VH4 and a Herbert. Amazing amps, naturally, but I have found that the volume capability of those amps is totally over kill for most places. If you are in concert, they mic you up anyway. I have not played in a concert yet where the soundmen didn't ask me to keep the amp volume low, and listen to my guitar through a monitor.

The Einstein 50 watt combo is all I use now, sometimes hooked up with a Diezel 2x12 as well. The odd impedance and three speaker combination make for a great tone.

Congradulations on getting an Einstein Combo. The more you use it, the more you will want to keep using it.

Thanks man! :)

I love it tbh. It rocks real hard. Love the cleans and the crunch, but also the distortion! I'm a bit of a Metallica fanboy, and I was kinda worried about that typical 80's "bathtub" sound that the Herbert does so beatifully with the midcut, but the Einstein can do a somewhat similar tone on Ch. 1 M. 3 which is good news to me! :)
I do like the mids more and more though...so right now I don't miss the Herbert, except for the MIDI-capability...kind of a pain to have to switch the Xpression by hand, but since I only play at home it's not that big of a deal.
